Leomom I suspect that your smell issues might start with the front end of your process. I think you should let them dry out before you put them in a hamper. My towels go into a mesh bag that hangs near an air vent. If they are really soaky i put them over the divider in the sink or hang them off the handle for the stove or on the back of a chair. I try to never let anything wet sit in a heap. Mildew isn't going to live long in a dry environment. I wash towels on hot with All free and clear and some vinegar have had no smells. I do use non-clorine bleach every now and then to spiff up whites but didn't notice smells in between times.
