Is this a good deal?

I hardly know where to start with things. Pretty much everything in my budget is necessity. except for the cable/phone/internet.

I thought about drop it all. but lets be reasonable. I am a single stay at home homeschooling mother. High speed internet is kinda a necessity. and we love cable. and honestly DVR saves us all kinds of money. even free movies from the library involve gas, meter money and over due fees. I think it is kinda a wash. and again with the mind numbing boredom. phone . . . needa home phone. or I need to get my dd a cell phone because she will be home alone while I am at work. again . . .wash.

So for all three no matter how I work it or which company I go through it looks like it is going to be $85-$100 for digital cable (including HBO, Disney channel, national geographic and history channel, on demand and dvr), high speed cable internet and phone service either through my cable provider or vonage. is that good? or am I paying to much. this is pretty much it for our entertainment.

I'm TV free, so I can't really comment on the cost, but is it possible to cut your cable package some? Would going to Netflix be cheaper, but still not cost you in gas for library moves?

Or do you need to keep your cable TV at a certain level to keep home phone/internet?

You might want to check with phone company (I'm AT&T here) - some offer digital TV packages, so you could get that along with landline and DSL. See what the costs are at least so you can compare.

I am so behind on all of the changes that have taken place for you and your family. :

Pm me if you need anything.

I think that's a good deal for the combined services.

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me; it's what you'd pay here (MI) for the same/similar package.

sounds good to me. i pay 125
Id' say that's pretty good! We pay about $90 for phone, cell and DSL.

Yes, that sounds great. I pay $150 per month for that stuff.

Doesn't sound bad - we were paying $150 back home for all satellite, internet & phone.

Yep, sounds like a good deal to me too. That was about what we were going to pay for our bundle, which would have saved us about $25-30 a month, but our TV didn't work out due to a large tree.

I know it depends on where you are, but I "shopped" cable and internet and got the cheapest possible combination. We pay about 32 dollars a month plus tax for basic cable and internet (we just have cell phones, no home phone). You might be able to cut your plan and save some money (although I realize a lot of those channels can be helpful for homeschooling and kids in general). I called Time Warner several times and talked to different people about the available plans. They all told me different things, and I found someone who told me something that I liked!

I should add we don't have a lot of options being in the middle of no where.

We have $20/cable (Its like 10 channels) PBS has great documentarys. You tend to have to plan your tv time a little more without dvr...

I really miss cable though. When I go visit my mom I just hang out at the TV in awe of all the cool stuff to watch! LOL.

We have netflix also.

You can also find BUNCHES of stuff to watch on the net now. So you *could* cut out cable...it would probably be a sacrifice. But its doable.

yep, we don't have cable, don't miss a thing! We watch it all online. Most shows can be found streaming or downloadable if you look around You can even watch movies online. Right now I am loving hulu.com and surfthechannel.com

and fwiw, those rates to me are excessive, I know here you can combine cable, net/land line for $99 but I just have local only lifeline for $7mo, 1.4mb (thats all you need to steam video) DSL for $25 and watch tv online. I was using my cell for long distance but we can't afford it right now so I'm going to have to buy phone cards from the .99 cent store (99 min for .99 cents) so I pay $32 for what everyone else is paying $99 for. Seriously, do you NEED to be able to DL at 6MB sec? I doubt it, cut your speed and slash your bill in half or more and unless your downloading huge files all day long you won't notice a real difference.

eta: FWIW, I'm also a single SAHM.
