Stuff growing in whey

I made this whey from store bought yogurt a few weeks ago. It's my first batch ever. I went to make lacto-fermented grape leaves tonight and there is stuff growing in the whey. I'm not sure if it's okay to use.

It's white and kind of fluffy/spiderwebby. It's suspended in the whey. I just want to make sure its not mold.

Anybody?

If it's fluffy and kind of hairy, it's most likely mold. Otherwise, it's probably okay. Good whey should get more sour smelling over time. Give it a sniff test and see if it smells bad.

It smells okay and tastes okay. I sure hope its okay because I used it for the grape leaves.

It's definitely fluffy, maybe hairy. Should I just throw it out? Is it ever okay for whey to grow anything in it like kombucha or vinegar does?
