Serger help - PLEASE!

So I just waisted all of the time DS would give me - okay so he's only 6 months old - how much could I really expect? Anyway, I got some wooly nylon and am finally in the stage of my diaper production to use it and I can't figure out where to put it. I tried it in every place and it didn't seem to work. I want it to be on the top edge as you look at the diaper so when I'm sewing, it would be on the bottom. I am so excited to try it - I have 3 different varigated ones but I'm stuck - PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!! Yes, I do need to get a life but this is what I have for now!

Also, why wooly nylon? I've seen it mentioneed so many places that I just went out and got it without asking why. TIA!

Hi,

The woolly nylon thread should be in the loopers of your serger. Is that what you are asking?

A little advice - don't use woolly nylon if you are using touchtape, aplix or velcro on your diapers. It will catch on the woolly nylon and ruin it.

Wooly nylon should be used in the loopers, not the needle. Put it in one of the loopers and see which side it's on and then place your fabric so it's on the side you want it on

Maria - thanks for the advice - I'm using snaps but I'll remember it if I'm using velcro.

Luvmy2kids - thanks! I'm hoping to try it again tonight!

It didn't work. I tried it in both loopers and it made a tiny stitch not the large one that would be most decorative. I can't find my manual either to look.

Hmmm. If I were you I would re-thread my machine. Also, make sure that the tension is way down on your loopers. When I use woolly nylon in my serger, the tension is set between 0-1.

Let me know what happens.

My serger has a wheel you turn, to make the stiching wider. It moves the needle and the cutting knife further apart from one another.

What brand/model serger do you have???

Maria - I tried just changing the tension on the looper with the wooly nylon and IT WORKED!!!! I am so excited! Thank you so much! I now have fitted diapers with shades of blue edging, primary colored edging and yellow, white and pink edging. Oh I mean my kids have these dipes!!

Thanks for the ideas everyone!
