Is Green Poop Always A Dairy thing?

Ok well I've sort of known in the back of my mind that ds is sensitive to something for years now. But it never seemed to bother him so I didn't try that hard to figure it out. Now that dd has so many issues I'm realizing I really should try to nail down ds's sensitivity. Since he was a young toddler he's gotten the red ring around his butt....not every day, not even every week sometimes and he also, since maybe 2-3 yrs old has green poop.

Do you think I should remove dairy and see what happens? It'd be easy to do at the moment considering how much dairy free stuff I have around because of dd.

If not dairy, it could be anything couldn't it? I wonder if it'd be easier to get him tested and take it from there? He was on dairy based formula as a baby from 4 mos on and never had any obvious issues at that time.

green poop can be normal, but i would say if you have plenty of dairy free stuff around what could it hurt to try?

No--my DD had green poop from nuts and coconut, and possibly other things too (can't remember). I can't remember if she got green poop as a dairy reaction or not. She also had that red ring that never went away even after I identified all her food allergens. IMO testing isn't particularly accurate, and there's some debate about whether higher IgG levels indicate a reaction to foods, or a protective mechanism against IgE (anaphalactic) reactions. I personally wouldn't bother testing until I'd done elimination diets, and only if I couldn't get to the bottom of the problems through elimination diets.

That said, it wouldn't hurt to try eliminating dairy for a while as it is a really common allergen.

Green poop can definitely be something other than dairy intolerance/allergy. I've been dairy free since DS#1 was 9 months old and DS#2 almost always has green poop. Granted he's EBF at this point, but I'm not eating any dairy. Our ped suggested it just means that there is something not right or happy in the digestive tract. We definitely know that's true for DS#2, we just haven't figured out what yet.

DS2 is another one who got green poop from nuts and coconut, as well as strawberries, so I have to say no it's not just from dairy.

Our green poop was from corn.

Thankfully I'm pretty darn positive I only have one child with corn issues! I might take dairy out just to see if there's any difference, I dunno. That's the thing, he doesn't really have much for symptoms. He doesn't have any behavior issues, heck the kid is an angel compared to most 4 yr olds I know. Perfect in weight/height, no skin issues, etc. I just know enough about allergies now because of dd that I don't want to be causing him any gut damage that could eventually lead to other issues later in life, kwim?
