...but we used up all of our good boy names.....

.......................and we thought you were going to be a girl....so we had our girl names all lined up........then we found out you were another boy.......and now it's back to the old drawing board...

I hate getting others other than my husband and I involved in name picking; people (strangers) used to get on my nerves so bad when I was pregnant with boy #1 with turning up their noses when we so graciously told them the names we had picked out, and family turning up their noses; and other family members trying to force other names on us (hello! When you get morning sickness from carrying my child, then you can have a say in the name!!!)--

-- so we have a family tradition of keeping the name secret until the kid gets here...

But both my husband are walking around with lost looks on our face whenever we bring up the subject of names between the two of us, so I think it's time to ask for a little bit of help.

My husband has a tradition in his family that involves 1 first name and 2 middle names

Also we started the tradition between us of using biblical names

My son's name is Gabriel Elijah Caleb ~

We had the girls name picked out as Genesis Liel Sadie ~

We both came up with those names early and agreed on them easily.

But now, we are lost, cause we're not having a girl, we're having another boy.

...now what?

Husband likes "Hezekiah". I don't. I'm not fond of "H" names. He also likes Azriel.
I don't know what I like. I don't know if I like any other biblical names. I've always liked Joshua and Shiloh and Noah. Husband doesn't like Joshua (it's WAY overused around here) He says where he grew up he knew about 7 different "Noah"'s. And he hates Shiloh.

Briefly considered Nehemiah...both threw it out. Malachi? Nah. Nothing catches us and holds us like Gabriel and Genesis did. At least nothing biblical....

Personally? I notice a tendency in myself to gravitate towards name that end in -el and I also tend to like names that have a "br" in them.

We're hanging in the air on "Israel"...I considered it for boy #1; I really liked it...it's not really singing to me for some reason like it did in the beginning.

I tend to find myself thinking about the names "Monteray" and "Dominique" a lot...neither of which are biblical names...and I'm not sure if I care if they are anymore.

Help me before I :!

Edit: We've also been throwing "Mordecai" around....
Oh and ps......I'm also beginning towards wondering if I give a crap what my husband wants to name the kid anymore, seeing as how his ankles aren't swollen, and his bladder isn't compressed, and all... I don't want to feel that way though because a)We're usually so name-compatible and b) I told him the first one would be mainly my choice (on the first name), and the next one he could have a more say first name choice......

but neither of us are very satisfied with what we're coming up with so far...

I like Malachi

My ds is Ezra and his boy-cousins are Joseph, Aaron and Noah.

I really like Caleb but there are a LOT of Calebs around here.

But..you have two Gs...(well, one is just a picked out name, but still)

Gideon? Gilead? Gaius?

Ok just throwing some names out that we considered. We also go with a Biblical theme..
We currently have an Elijah and Noah, but also liked Isaac, Isaiah, Joshua, Jonah, Ezra.
We are having a girl, which has made it impossible for us to agree on a name.

You know, I threw Caleb my first boy's name out of pity for my dad. He has three girls and no boys, and never had a chance to name a boy, and he suggested Caleb, so I felt sorry for him and put in in his middle name. (I wasn't giving "Gabriel" up like he was suggesting, though....) So I picked "Gabriel" my husband picked "Elijah" and for my dad, we put in "Caleb" because, to us at least, it rolled together rather nicely.

Yes, Ezra is on my list.
We're also toying around with Malachi and Jonah....

also:
What should we break tradition with the biblical names?

Gideon and Gilead are interesting....I'm adding them to my list to share with him and see what he thinks...

This site seems to have a lot of names

My favorite Biblical boy name is Micah. Its easy for others to understand but not too common either.

I like Gideon (my fave!) and Gilead. Does the meaning of the name or it's origin matter to you? FYI, Azreal = traditional angel of death in many religions.

eep! Well...it's slightly important....that meaning is kinda dark, isn't it?

I don't really know much about biblical names, but I would like Genesis for a boy. I really do not see it as a name for any particular gender and it carries a great meaning.

Cool, thanks for that link!

I'm not particularly looking for "G" names, it just so happenned that we liked "Gabriel" and then we liked "Genesis"...it was a coincident--

But maybe it's that I'm finding myself gravitating towards "G" names like I do with -el and "br" names? It's all so confusing.....

(off to explore this link.)

There is also Emmanuel, but usually only people born around Christmas are named like that. I have some very religious friends who named their son Elias, I think it is from the bible. I like Abraham too.

"Where ghetto meets crunchy" LOL, that is so me.

Elias is our boy name. I also love Micah, Jude, Silas, Tobias and Asher.

Hope you pick a name soon.

If you like Israel and Azrael, how about Ariel? It is a boy's biblical name and means "Lion of G-d".

Gabriel is an arch angel... you could go with a theme there... the other 3 arch angels are Michael, Uriel and Raphael... Michael is a bit "done" even though it is the natural balance to Gabriel in the Bible, but Uriel and Raphael are both interesting "-el" names... you could have 2 angels (PS- Azrael is an angel too... but the angel of death- a bit hefty to saddle a kid with, IMO).

Yeah, I like Emmanuel, I threw that at him some time back, and he vetoed it. :

Now he's pushing for Julius. : meh.

Interesting!! I love all of those names...(except Michael...I had a flakey ex boyfriend by that name...no way no how.)

Uriel
Raphael...I had thrown that one at him too, he didn't turn it down.

I'm trying to leave the first name up to him, but he's so dang FINICKY!!! ugh. I have several I liked, none of which he particularly cared for, or really came back to reinvestigate....(Maybe I should just take over the whole operation in it's entirety? )

So Azriel is an angel of death? Everywhere I"m reading says it means "help of God"....well I guess that meaning doesn't necessarily rule it out as being an angel of death....but then again, I don't wanna get into a whole biblical discussion per se...just very interesting meanings there that could be different or could be related....hm...

Jericho? I love Silas and Asher, and I have a Jude, as of last month.

I really gravitate towards Hebrew (which happen to be biblical) names, all of which my boys have.

Abram's cool. Is that biblical?

Oh, and yeah, we're thinking on Tobias as a middle name...maybe...

We were actually sitting here discussing Jericho

I have a nephew named Ashton...so I dunno about Asher

and now he's chewing on Abram.....

Ok, I think he's liking Abram a lot.

He's also liking Raphael in keeping with the angelic theme....he says it's ironic because neither one of them are "angels"...very much the opposite.(the unborn one kicks him awake in the mornings when I sleep and put my belly on him...)
