3 inch cotton futon for a kid?

Hi,
I want to buy an organic mattress. Is 3 inch one going to be too hard on a slatted frame? I am even thinking of using it on the floor as my baby is still quite young. It will be very easy to fold up every morning to air out.
Thanks!

We got a six inch one for my dd to use on her slatted platform bed. I thought about getting a thinner one, but I lay down with her a lot and so I figured a six inch would be better. Glad I did, it's very firm! But I can't feel the slats through it.

If you aren't planning on laying on it much and really want to be able to roll it up, a 3 in should be fine - the one we have is pretty heavy and I can't imagine wrestling it into a roll every morning.

HTH.

We had a three inch that worked great for my girls... it was a higher quality one though, can't remember the exact details... but some heavier adults complained they could feel the slats (and that was after a few years of use, also). I think if it was an issue you could just get one of those bunky boards or something similar (just a board to lay across the slats under the futon), since it's really just feeling those slats that was the issue. The girls' bed was one of those folding up ones that turn into a couch or I would've used a board with theirs.
