Quick- How much castor oil?

Back story- I am over 42 weeks and constipated, so I am going to try castor oil. DH is out getting it now and I want to take it soon.

My MW says take 4 oz in OJ, but that sounds like a lot. Any other quick opinions?

I did 4 oz in orange juice when I took it. Chug it fast. Really fast.

You'll never be able to drink OJ again.

I always took 2oz and then 2oz again two hours later.

I could never down 4oz at once.

I was going to suggest doing 2 doses. I haven't ever done it, but if I was that is how I would do it
Good luck!!

Having just done 4oz of castor oil a week ago Sunday- I would recommend doing 2 oz, and then doing another 2 oz later if you have to.

On 4oz, once you're empty- you'll keep going and it really burns. I wish I had taken half as much as I did.

Good luck, mama!

I did 4 oz, then chased it with OJ...not too bad going down...coming out was another story.

I would suggest 2 oz...4 is just overboard!

I did 4 oz. mixed into a milkshake. Worked VERY well. You will no longer be constipated, that's for sure. I will also never eat ice cream again

Not OJ do it with ice cream. It breaks up the caster oil better than OJ. Do 2 oz and then 2 hours later 2 more oz.

If it does work make sure that EVERY time you are on the toilet you drink 6 oz of water. E v e r y t i m e . The biggest concern with caster oil is dehydration.

My caster oil baby's birth story is actually published in a book ; )

i would only do 2 oz. if you must. be careful though...it has been known to cause distress in babies.

good luck. i can imagine 42 weeks being stressful in and of itself.

Which book? You can't tell us about it without telling us the name of the book!

I took 2 ozs. mixed with OJ...and it honestly wasn't bad at all for me...I will do it again this time if they schedule another hospital induction...From first twinge to birth was only 3.5 hours!

As I sit here 9 days overdue, just a warning. It doesn't always work!! And, oh, how disappointing it is to sit on the toilet forever and a day and not get a baby out of the deal.
