What works on old grease stains?

Lots of our clothes that are in otherwise great condition have grease stains on them.... they've already been washed and dried lots of times. I've tried bac out and dr. bronner's on them... anyone have any suggestions? I'd love to be able to wear the clothes we already have rather than buying new ones just because they're stained.... TIA!

What kind of grease?

If it is food grease, I am surprised the Bac Out didn't work.

Personally, I'd just wear the clothes around the house and let them be. When/if you buy new (or new-to-you) clothing, check for stains before you dry clothes. Once the heat sets the stain, it is really hard to get it out. What is the saying... an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. What is causing the grease stains in the first place? Can you remove that from your life or minimize it?

Best wishes!

Ammonia - a cup if you have a top-loader, up to the detergent line if you have a front-loader.

Yes, it's food grease - from either messily eating or messily cooking! So an apron would definitely be a good idea for me but I can't do much about how my family eats other than scold and nag.

Perhaps reducing the amount of food grease?

Dawn dish soap works wonders on both food and automotive related grease stains. Either add about a teaspoon to the load or spot treat and then wash as usual. A little bit goes a long way.

I use my Earth hand washing detergent or Ecos and both get cooking grease out no problem. I also use it on my hubbies white shirt collars and cuffs from work since they get grey from his sweat(eeewwww)

You could try dish soap or shampoo and see if either of those work. If they don't, Goo Gone usually works for me. It's not the most natural product but it's better than throwing out otherwise good clothes.

I've been using dish soap as a pre-treatment of greasy stains. So far it works perfectly.

dawn small amount rubbed on the spot left to sit then washed if using the washing machine remember that you would use 5ml for a load of laundry dont want a bubble machine: you can change over and wash your clothing in dawn i love my dawn :
