Need someone to bounce ideas back and forth re: possible allergies in 18M DD UPDATE

OK so if this is rambly, I apologize.

When DD was tiny, she had a MSPI allergy. We had a lot of bloody stool and went on a total dairy protein/soy ED. After several months it was much better and I slowly re-introduced these things into my diet. I started letting her try them around 10 months old. She's been fine, to my knowledge.

She's an AWFUL sleeper. NEVER sleeps more than 2 hours at a time, EVER. We co-sleep and she's still nursing, and most times she nurses all.night.long. Her behavior has changed for the worse. She throws tantrums constantly (which I know is partially age appropriate)...but last night was a good example. She slept her 2 hours and then woke up SCREAMING. She was hysterical for like an hour and a half on and off. Didn't want me to talk to her or come near her, etc.

This type of behavior is escalating and I'm wondering if the behavior coupled with the awful sleeping is somehow attributed to some sort of allergy...gluten maybe? I have NO clue where to start here. I've been down this road before and in retrospect have no clue how I did it.

BTW she hasn't really gained even a pound since she was 9 months old, and while she seems to be thriving and exceeding milestones, I wonder if this has something to do with it.

Help.

I'm curious- how long did you keep dairy & soy out of your diet before reintroducing?

It's possible that those are still the culprits- symptoms might have changed from digestive to behavioral. Especially since she's getting them directly now as opposed to through your BM- that might make a difference in the symptoms.

Have you tried taking dairy/soy out again? That would be the first place I would start, since you already know that she did have a problem with them at some point. If you do see an improvement, I would leave them out of her diet for at least 6-12 months before reintroducing. Also work on some gut healing at the same time.

From the time she was 3 weeks until about 9-10 months old...

I second the "take soy/dairy out again" idea. My DS was sensitive from birth, and we thought he "outgrew" it at 13 months when the GI ped. trialed him. At 18 months he got it back again, with different symptoms. Trialed again when he was 3, he seemed okay until he was 4.5 years old, and got it back again, different symtpoms. He went from projectile vomiting to drinking alot all night long to tantrums to bedwetting and leg pains, etc. He's 8, I just had him tested by ALCAT and he still has a severe intolerance to milk.

As of today, we're on a dairy/soy elimination diet again. Here's to hoping it helps!
