ok I am interested in making a natural make up that would not clog pores but that actually covers. I have tried a few things, but none have really worked that great. I am mainly looking for foundation.
I use Everyday Minerals in the "intensive" coverage... i like it
I just started using EM about two weeks ago. Within the past week I have had 3 HUGE, painful pimples. I really like EM alot and I was hoping that wasn't the cause. Most likely it is though, so my question is, I have heard that switching products can temporarily cause undesireable reactions with your skin while adjusting, could it just be my skin adjusting, or is EM just not for me???
Sorry to highjack. I hope you find what your looking for and I think making your own is a great idea, so I will be watching this thread.
ok so since I have not come across anything yet...what are some things that are good for your skin and would work in a make up? Maybe we can all work together to make something!
here were some of my ideas:
cocoa powder for the shade- I do not know that it is good or bad for your skin, but it was the only thing I could think of with fleshy colors....outside of dirt...which seems counter productive
corn starch- I liked the idea of cornstarch because it would help soften the cocoa color but most of all because it has liquid to powder properties and back again.....so to me it would wash out of your pores easily
my first batch I mixed the two with a little water...but I could not get a decent shade or good coverage
any suggestions?
I have worked hard not to have clogged pores (did not wear make up for years even though I had some blemishes, just to get my pores cleaned) and I do not want to ruin all of that by reclogging them with make up.
I have tried some of the mineral make ups but was not satisfied with coverage for uneven skin tone, scars, and blemishs. Plus I am not convinced it is 'good' for your skin.
I have also had dry skin patches and they are a mess for foundation and I do not like traditional moisturizers (clogg pores)...so I should just drink more water to hydate my skin.
I was using Everyday Minerals for the last few weeks. I had some breakouts too. I just found out last night that Skin Deep rates EM foundation a 3. So, no more EM for me. I guess I'll just go back to not wearing makeup at all.

is there any such thing as paper make up? Meaning a thing pliable paper(or something of the like) that is flesh toned and can stick to your face and cover blemishes?
It is just a crazy thought I had in my head. Wondered if anyone had made something like that.
I heard that the minerals clog up your pores just as much if not more than normal makeup.
I'm finding this to be the case. I switched to EM a few weeks ago, and while I love them compared to a liquid foundation, it's not helping my breakouts at all.
I am just going no-makeup. I will wear eye makeup for special occasions, but I am going to stop using foundation on a daily basis.
Bare Minerals contains Bismuth Oxychloride which causes many women to break out. It's a heavy metal, and an allergen for many people. Try switching to a brand w/o the bismuth and you may be fine.
I have had terrible adult acne and it got much worse after the birth of my last child. Mineral makeup was a giant part of getting and keeping it clear.
I make my own mineral makeup now formulated to my personal needs for coverage, oil absorption, etc. and it's been working GREAT, plus I was able to get about 3+ years supply for $50 by making it myself.

I looked at the ingredient list on the back of the BM/BE container that I had, researched all of the ingredients and what they were FOR, and what their properties were, did a lot of googling online for 'recipes', and then created my own.
There are several places to buy the ingredients and it's really easy to do. The hardest part was adding the pigments b/c you can accidentally overdo it REALLY easy if you don't go very slow, adding just the teensiest amounts at a time.
There's LOTS of info out there! Get to googling! (I found a lot of great info and leads on info from makeuptalk.com - the MMU forums)
