sweeping membranes vs. stripping membranes??

How do you all feel about it. I'm not due yet...but my doula suggested it as an option since we're not really sure on my due date....

I won't try it for quite a while yet...but I was just wondering how you all felt or what you knew about this.

I believe that the two terms are just different descriptions of the same procedure, and other moms from this forum have commented on it being painful. It seems like it doesn't really get things going by itself, either. If you're not due yet, why not spare yourself the trouble and forget about it? That's what I would do.

I'm all for it, but with the caveat that it doesn't always work.
