What's everyone working on.

I'm plugging away at my Christmas gifts. Slow knitter so I have to start now, lol. I've been working on a couple projects at once to stave off the boredom. I have a hat going...my first experience knitting in the round, still have dd's sweater to finish and now I've started the moderne baby blanket from the Mason-Dixon Knitting book for my niece. In just a couple weeks I will start a sock class and I'm pretty excited about that. I placed my order with knitpicks to get some dpn (among other goodies) for the class, never used them before so we'll see how that all goes. I have so many thing's I'd like to knit...but so little time.
So...what's on your to do list?

Let's see. I have a shawl going for my grandma in caron simply soft, a ripple afghan on the hook but that will be an ongoing thing. I am being commissioned to make a whippet sweater and then it's off to finish August's bday gifts for family and friends. Wow...I just realized there is a lot of knitting and crocheting to do.

Uh, lots..

Cardigan for dd2, which is my first steeking project. In Seamoss Peace Fleece. Still have to crochet and cut the steek and finish neck and button bands.

2 at once, toe-up knee socks for me--in brown Fisherman's wool--pretty close to done

Simple top-down raglan cardigan for me, in leaf green Patons wool; also steeking this to avoid purling.

But I just received my "Knitted Animals" book in the mail--Waldorf-style animal patterns, and I need to focus on making stuff for dd's kindergarten classroom.

I'm only working on one thing at the moment -- my first soaker.

But I've also decided after I'm finished to add in a design of a skull and crossbones.

Just one big one on the bum.

I am on my third BYOB, and a My Friend Fred for my nephew's 1st bday. I am trying to thin my stash so I can add some 100 Pure wool.

Last night I finished a Sheepy Skirt for dd knit in LTK cestari fine merino. It was my first time working with it and I like it. Seems like it will hold up well. Still have to weave in the ends and add draw string. She demanded to wear it today, so, I had to pull a draw string off of a pair of shorties and tie the ends in bows! I also want to add a picot edge to eliminate the curling stockinette edges.

I have some ponds to finish knitting by 8/1 for the knitted farm play mat swap I'm in.

I'm planning my first EZ sweaters. One will be a lap shouldered sweater intended for church wear this winter for dd. 80/20 merino/cashmere. It's cream and not enough to do anything else with.

Then, or first, an EZ Naglar for my nephew who will be 2 next month. It'll be in PF in that turquoisy blue for the body and orange for the sleeves.

I'm also working on Christmas gifts. (Also a new and slow knitter.) I've got a pair of Sheepy pants longies that is for my good friend for her LO that I'm currently ignoring. I missed a stitch with I started the leg, and am now 4" in and have to frog it all back and try again or the legs will be different sizes. I've got a dishcloth on the go, and just last night cast of Calorimetry for the same friend.

There's still a lot on my to do list, but must finish what I've got going first!

I'm mostly working on some swap items right now: crochet slippers, some animals and play food. That's my focus until the end of the week. When it's all finished, I can go back to some of my other ufo's. I've got the back finished for the flutter sleeve cardigan from the spring IK, and I'd really like to finish that before I go back to school in a few weeks. I also need to start on some woolies for ds, since he's about to outgrow the smalls and all of my bigger things are girly from dd. And I'm working on finishing a cable baby blanket for ds to take to daycare when he starts in a few weeks.

And then there's all the projects I have lined up, and Christmas knitting to get started . . . I really need more time to knit, or more realistic expectations of what I can accomplish

Well currently I have 2 items on the needles. Socks (kinda hibernating) and a baby bonnet for my bff. The bonnet matches a presto chango that I just finished and I am going to knit up some cute little booties to match- so cute! Then I need to make booties to match a 5 hour baby sweater for my sister's shower in August (I already made booties for it- but not at the same time and they don't match ) Then I am still on my longies kick and really have go to knit up a pair or 2 for each of my kids. Then back to new baby knitting with a peapod, and more longies/soakers. Hopefully I will be able to bust through some of my stash before my 3IG comes.

Hmmm- am I the only one who isn't knitting gifts this year for Christmas? I would like to knit my family stockings- but nothing for anyone out of my house as I am sick of my gifts not being loved enough.

I am determined to use up a good amount of my stash - some of it's 10 years old! - so I have three projects going on at once: socks for me (trying Tofutsies for the first time), an oddball sweater for ds mostly from Buttons Magic Garden in six colors, and a scarf for me. I'm doing this braided scarf I found on Ravelry. I'm using ivory and burgandy Chelsea Silk and it is turning out beautiful

I just finished spinning for some Endpaper Mitts for me. 2008 is the year of knitting for people who really appreciate it (i.e. me) so I'm not doing handknit Xmas pressies for most folk.

Can I play? (I'm newish, and not around as often as I'd like, but I'm excited about my upcoming projects.)

I'm currently working on a "skirty" that I based loosely on the Pea Patch Soaker pattern. I added the skirt on my own, making it up as I went along. Actually, I knit the waist ribbing and then the skirt part in stockinette, with an increase every fourth stitch on the second row, and another every fourth stitch on the fourth row. I knit until it seemed like it might be long enough, and finished with a seed stitch border to avoid curling. Then I went back and picked up stitches just below the waist and am working on the soaker part. I'm getting close to done, too. I don't know how it will be when worn, but it's sure cute on the needles!

My next two projects may be done concurrently. I promised DS some knit "chainmail" in a grey wool-silk blend (because I don't want to use acrylic, and the wool-silk blend was on sale). Also, I'll be making a baby sweater for my sister's baby, probably in cotton (since my sister was allergic to wool as a kid, and though she's doing better with it now, there's no point risking her being unable to use the sweater because of that). I have a little time on the sweater, since the baby isn't due quite yet.

After that, I'm thinking I'll get really brave and attempt a larger sweater for DS, since I ordered some bulky wool that looked (on the computer screen) like it would be just the color of his hair. If it isn't exactly right, it will be close, and I think I'll have enough left to do mittens for him, and perhaps even a scarf.

Then I want to do something for oDD, probably a little shawl or bolero-style jacket for her to wear this winter with a dress that would otherwise not be warm enough.

And I should come up with something for DH, probably a hat, because he usually loses at least one each winter. And maybe someday I'll do something for myself.

And at this rate, I have enough projects to keep me busy for a looooooooong time... And I'd really love to knit Christmas presents, at least for my own side of the family. My in-laws wouldn't appreciate anything I made.

Helena from the current knitty.com issue- made with Cascade Sierra in 18mo size. My last ball is in a hopeless knot about three rows from the end, so I set it aside- I basically need to knit back most of a looooong row and cut the yarn, untangle and reattach.

I am plugging away on a Jaywalker sock with Regia stretch sock yarn. I hope to finish the heel flap and turn tonight....

Next up are Eunny's Endpaper Mittens done with a beautiful pastel rainbow Koigu and black solid fingering weight yarn- these will eb for my sister's 15th birthday ina few months.

Next up will be some scarves for giftmas- my mom and MIL have both expressed interest.

Right now I'm working on a layette for a friend who is expecting in September! I'm kind of a newer knitter, so I'm using the baby hat pattern from One Skein, the baby kimono pattern from Mason-Dixon Knitting, and the baby booties pattern from Fuzzy Galore. I'm excited to gift them to her! This is her third child, so I'm sure she isn't getting too many special gifts anymore.

I just finished 12 squares for the knitted farmyard swap, so I felt I needed to do something fun for myself after a lot of boring brown knitting. I am finally working on Cheri Amour from last years fall knitty. I bought the yarn last year printed the pattern last year and cast on two days ago i am enjoying it and love the way the handpainted yarn is working up. I am excited to have something handknit for myself. Then who knows. Probably some fall longies for the babe and a sweater for the big one.

I'm binding off a pair of socks that I thought I'd never finish - sz 1 needles, they just seemed to take forever.
Two pair of longies on the needles. Oh, and one more pair of socks on the needles. But as soon as I finish these socks I'm casting on another pair with my new Flat Feet yarn. Can't wait to see how they turn out!

I just finished up a number of small projects, including a family of little people (complete with little kitty cat) for ds' birthday. Right now I'm tying to finish the never ending sweater for ds. Yikes, I have two weeks till b-day! After that, it's on to the rest of the Christmas projects (I already crocheted grochery bags for mom and MIL). My nephews are getting slippers, sis is getting mittens & hat, an Elmo doll for my friend's dd, and dh is getting a stuffed Dalek (http://www.entropyhouse.com/penwiper...termaknit.html) (what sci-fi nerd doesn't want a snuggly dalek? ). So much to do and so little time!

My first felted project- a felt bag. I messed up the Monica sweater from Knitty, so its calling me to go back to it, and a hat for my nephew. Need to start on Christmas gifts soon.

I'm going to make Quinn bags as Christmas gifts this year. I have to make 7 of them! I have 1 completely done and a second OTN. I am halfway through the bottom part of the bag on the second. I'm hoping to get that one done before 8/8 because I entered Ravelympics in the Bag-n-tote Backstroke & Cable Steeplechase events. I'm hoping to get another Quinn bag done during the Olympics!

Oh my gosh. I had nothing in particular that I had to get knitted, then I was considering knitting some xmas ornaments from Knitter's Almanac, but didn't feel any rush.

The baby is set on shorties for the summer and who knows when cool weather will start (I live in the mountains and it's very unpredictable- some years it starts raining and being cool in mid September, other years it's not till after Halloween).

In fact I was almost getting desperate to think of some things to knit that were useful.

Then I found out that my 19 year old daughter is having a baby : so I gave her the choice of organic colorgrown cotton, or wool (and detailed the care involved) for a Moderne Baby Blanket. I also want to make some hats, longies and possibly a cardigan or something for her little one.

Then I got, and accepted, an invitation to go camping (well, cheating camping- big trailer in a campground/resort) with my parents in mid-late September, at an elevation exceeding 9000 feet in Northern California. Last year they got snowed in when they went at that time.

So now I have to make longies for my baby in the next month and a half. Finish blanket and make longies, wash cloths and hats for my daughter's baby by December.

I really want to send a care package with a sling, blanket, longies, wash cloths with some nice soaps for the baby and for her, nursing pads, dried lavender flowers, and whatever else occurs to me.
