OMG, this is NOT fixable!!

*Sigh*, I am SO SICK of the kids cutting their hair!! I do not know where they get the scissors, but my 6 yr old cut my 4 yr old's hair, and there is no way to fix it unless I shave her head .

That does look unfixable. Try to remember it is only hair, and in a month you can get her a short cut. I am so sorry. I would be really angry.

Oh LOL! I am sorry, it is super-frustrating for you, but it does look funny!

If it were my kid (and it no doubt WILL be one day) i'd leave it a few weeks to grow in an inch or two (should take a couple months max) and then have her whole head cut into a cute pixie cut. Stick a hat on her or part it differently (you might be able to do a braid over the bald patch with hair from each side of it?) in the meantime.

Mama, i hope you don't end up tearing YOUR hair out in frustration!

I would have a long talk with the 6 year old. Then take her to the thrift store for a bucket of naked barbies. Let her cut their hair.

Encourage the little one to wear a hat. In two weeks, there will be sufficient stubble to cover the bald spot. Milk and a daily vitamin will help the hair grow, as well as dairy if she isn't allergic.

Your daughter's expression is priceless. I am so sorry, though! If I were you, I would follow PP's recommendations re: letting it grow out and trying the pixie cut... and remember that the picture will be part of a (hopefully good) family memory some day.

I know it's hard but OMG that picture had me.

Maybe you could sell the picture to an advertising agency or greeting card company.

Just curious - was that done with an electric razor or scissors? That's a close cut, for sure.

I'm sorry - hair will grow, but that's little consolation for the weeks that it takes to happen. Maybe a cute hat or two until there's some regrowth?

Hmmmm...That is really unfixable. Shaving it is an option to consider...but I think what I would do is cut it shorter now, and when it grows out more, even it up. If you need to, is there anyway to pull the sides up into a ponytail on top? That might work for a while until there is something there. Fortunately almost everyone with kids has been there, so even if you decide to just let it be - people should understand!

My Dd2's hair is pretty lopsided now, still growing out from the last time. Huge chunk missing from over her right ear... I fixed it as well as I could, and just accepted that it's not going to be even for a while.

I agree. very soon, you wont see a bald patch, and once the hair is a bit longer, it will blend in enough to not be noticeable. At least thats what I think.

My 5 yr old cut my 2 yr old's bangs off in a crew cut a few years ago. Not a good look for her.

My 5 yr old (used to be the 2 yr old!!) cut the sides of her hair last year and she had a mullet until we had it fixed into a chin length bob.

I promise i dont leave scissors or kitchen shears where they can reach them. They are clever, those children. Wait till the two younger ones are screaming in unison, and then stack a stepstool on top of a kitchen chair to reach the counter to stand on it to grab the scissors that are up way way high. Mom will never know they arent in the very high place!

Was that done with scissors or a razor?

ETA: Be careful that she doesn't get a sunburn on the shaved spot- use sunscreen if she won't keep it covered with a hat or ponytail all the time.

She used scissors! How she got it cut so close, I don't know.

Right now, I kinda do a comb-over, and you can't even tell. I gave them a bath last night & combed her hair afterwards, & just had to take a picture.

Thanks for the ideas, I will use them! I think she'd look cute in a short pixie cut eventually. She was so bald as a baby, and I loved that she FINALLY had a lot of gorgeous hair. So much for THAT .

I need a lock box for the scissors!

I'm sorry! The PP's have given you good advice, so I'll just add that I could totally see that pic on the front of a greeting card!

Again, that's a bummer Mama!

That doesn't look like it was done with scissors. On the bright side, it will grow back and you'll be telling stories about it for years. What's life without a few stories?

My sister used to wear her hair in a "whale spout", a pony tail on the top of her head when she was little. That could be a cute interim hairstyle.

I can't believe that was done with scissors, either!

Well, I just asked DD what she used, and she said "scissors". I asked her if she was telling me the truth, and she said "No". So I asked her what did you use, and she said "Daddy's clippers".

Sooooo, it's DADDY'S fault for not putting them up back where they belong .

You know, I've noticed one thing about these haircuts, is that it's a nice way to bond with people. The last time my dd cut her hair REALLY short, people everywhere regaled me with stories of the time their child had done it. It was kind of fun, actually.

I'm sure that'll happen.

It feels like 110 degrees here with the humidity, so I couldn't get past the fleece jammies.

LOL, it's only in the 70's here, with lows in the 50's. They love their warm jammies all year long.
