my DS 27 months has multiple allergies, basically a protein deprived diet, and we r vegetarians. allegic to dairy et all. someone on this site advised to add red star nutritional yeast to his food . i checked the website after i got the stuff, but mostly only baking recipes. can i add it directly to everyday food like soups? does it have to be cooked can i put it in juices cold? just confused if someone can help.....

Nutritional yeast has a kind of cheezy flavor, so I can't see adding it to juice.
Is there a problem with quinoa (it's a grain)? iirc, it's a complete protein. Check it out. Otherwise, I'd use nutritional yeast in things others might normally add cheese to. I often sprinkle nutritional yeast on my spaghetti straight for the cheesy flavor. I can see it being pretty yummy on or in soup, maybe even tomato juice or V8. Or making up some "cheddar" broccoli soup with it (using non-dairy milk).
Red star makes baker's and brewer's yeasts also, so make sure you have the nutritional yeast. It's usually flakes rather than bead-like.
Could you give us a little more information on what allergies you are dealing with?
