I'm beyond happy right now. Leo is now 13 days old and he just nursed successfully on both sides. I had called the breastfeeding support line in my city yesterday and they sent a really nice nurse to help us this afternoon. She gave us a nipple shield and it totally did the trick (at least this time). She said we could use that as long as we're comfortable and then gradually try to wean him directly to the breast. I'm so excited that my pumping days are numbered! :

Oh, and she weighed him and he's at 10lb 3oz (was 9lb 11oz at birth).

So glad to hear you guys got the help you needed and are making progress. I know how frustrating it can be!

thats the only way ds will nurse and it is only when he wany=ts to and the milk is already flowing

Woo hooo! I used a nipple shield with DS! It was, for sure, a wonderful thing! I'm excited for you both! I hope your transition (when you make it) from teh sheild to the breast goes as smoothly for you as it did for us!

That's great! Breastfeeding is hard sometimes but it is so worth it.
