Just curious, but if you're dealing with a child with multiple food allergies, does said child(ren) NOT have a dairy allergy? It seems that dairy is pretty much universal among allergic kiddoes. Oh, and when i say "allergy," I mean, any sensitivity other than known lactose intolerance, which is different.

I'll make it so you can click multiple answers in case you've got more than one child.

ETA: Answer "yes" even if your child was once allergic/sensitive to dairy and has outgrown it.

I voted yes although I'm not 100% sure at this point if there are any other intollerances going on. I think egg but I'm too scared to trial it so it remains a forbidden food.

Yep and I think it's her worst allergy over all although that's just based on her reactions through my breast milk to all these foods. Although when she got something directly with corn contamination it made her poor little butt bleed so who knows.

Although I dont know what his other allergies are, I know they exist. And I am getting closer to meeting them face to face.

Dairy's one of DS's. And wow, the results of your poll so far are that 16 with dairy allergy and 0 without. That was surprising.... buuuuuut.... what if only people with dairy allergy issues are opening your thread since it's titled "Dairy Allergy Poll"?

Oops! I'll see if I can change the title.

Other-

My oldest son is not currently allergic to dairy, hasn't been for 9 years, but was milk allergic as an infant. His current food allergies are peanut, most tree nuts, cooconut, shellfish, squid and sesame. He has outgrown allergies to milk, fish, wheat, oats, soy and egg. He also has drug, dander and pollen allergies.

My daughter is dairy allergic, and was recently diagnosed with peanut and tree nut allergies via spt.

well it doesn't seem to matter -- still pretty much all yes on dairy. I had no idea it was so widespread.

Did you see what I put as my reason for editing?

Well, I'll give you the token "1" --- but ds' allergies are limited to peanuts and many tree nuts, so maybe that's not as broad of a base of "multiple food allergies" as you were looking for. So you can disregard the response if it isn't.

I replied both yes and other as DS1 has a dairy allergy and I'm unsure of DS2's status as of yet.

No, that's what I was wondering, if you had a child that had allergies to any foods where one of them wasn't dairy.

Phew! Glad to know that I didn't screw your poll up! But now I'm wondering *why* my ds doesn't have a dairy allergy when it seems so prevalent.....I'll be watching this poll to see if he's just a freaky allergy kid.

That is interesting. Are his allergies IgE, or are they IgG/intolerances? Maybe that could explain a difference (if they're IgE)?

Ugh -- I get a little confused on this. He is anaphylatic to peanuts and cashews. Highly allergic to almonds. The rest of the tree nuts are more mild allergies. So that would make him IgE to the peanuts & cashews, right?

Yep. I think that must be it then- everyone (so far) that has intolerances has dairy on their bad list.

I wonder who else has anaphylactic allergies with/without dairy?

My dd's dairy was IgE, but not anaphylactic. It was identified on spt. Also, no other ana allergies.

Yeah, DS1's one IgE is dairy as well, not anaphylactic and no other IgE allergies at all.

ETA: IgE is the antibody responsible for anaphylactic allergies, iirc, LauraLoo.

Are you only interested in allergic kids, or allergic people of any age?

I'm sensitive to a few different foods, dairy and wheat being my two biggest. I also dont' tolerate legumes well, although I do eat tamari.

From what I've seen, it seems that dairy causes the most symptoms across the board, but that gluten sensitivity is just as if not *more* prevalent, but less noticeable... I wonder what a similar gluten poll would look like.:
