ok here's the deal.i have 2 in diapers now.my ds who is almost 3yrs,and dd who just turned 1yr.ds weighs around 40lbs,and is pretty thin and long.dd is about 30lbs,and is chubby!i need to switch to cloth diapers as soon as possible!financial reasons(plus,i've always wanted to use cloth, but i've been lazy and overwhelmed!)
i'm now ready, and i have a sewing machine.i know how to sew,so thats not an issue.i just need advice on what pattern to use, what materials to use,etc...for my dd,and ds body types.maybe even a one-size diaper/cover,or a training pants pattern for ds.i dont have alot of money(ok so i have no money)to invest.but i have tons of fabric!
i have terry, knit, cotton and flannel.what do i do with what fabrics?please everyone respond!no matter if its a site, advice, pattern, tutorial, etc.anything is greatly appreciated!

OK- go up to the sticky at the top diaper making and there are tons of tutorials. I would probably take your biggest hunks of fabric and make some toddler sized prefolds (4x8x4). My dd is 36 lbs and these are fabulous on her. Then you could use your scraps and smaller pieces to make fitteds and doublers. As for covers- do you have any wool? That is my fav- but I also have made some on the super cheap out of polar fleece. I like doublers out of microfiber towels (in the automotive section of stores) and flannel.

Have fun!

ditto check out the stickies for tutorials. i use prefolds and fleece covers, i just didnt want to meddle with anything else since the combo works very well for us with both kids.
