ChaCha Question

I have applied and they invited me for an on-line assessment type deal.

Question....anyone do this and REALISTICALLY how much can you make per month at what amount of time invested?

I make around $7 per hour on average, around $9-$10 on the weekends. How much you make per month depends on the number of hours you invest into it.

I make about $4 an hour but I'm still slow and get interrupted a lot. Still, thats more than I would make than going to work, paying for gas and upkeep, lunch, and childcare.

you can, but they keep changing their pay and as an independent contractor there is nothing we can do about it... Still, its time I'd otherwise be on the internet...

What do you mean by changing the pay? Do they up and decide to pay less per question answered?

ChaCha is a text messaging service where people text in their questions by phone (to 242242) or by the website, and ChaCha Guides look up the answer. It's free to use.

To join as a Guide you apply on the website, take 3 quick online tests, fill out your tax info as an ind. contractor, and answer a bunch of practice queries. They check that you did it right and then you can start answering questions. They used to pay a flat $.20 per answer, now they have special rules like you must have answered x questions per week or else you get paid half, you must have already worked for them x number of days first, and so on. I quit doing it when they began requiring 300 answers per week to get full pay.

You can get paid monthly as long as you made $100 by the 15th of the month, or set up an online bank account to get your money transferred whenever you want (though that option carries steep fees).

does chacha not work with macs??? for some reason they website doesnt work for me.. maybe its firefox? any ideas?

I just filled out the application to become a guide, and it came up with an error screen. When I paged back and resubmitted it, I received a message saying they had already received an application from my email address. Grrr... Any idea if I will ever hear back?

idk, Pumpkin, but I just joined, myself. Hopefully someone will have an answer for you. I'll bet you will, but if you don't hear back in a few days, maybe send 'em an email, explaining the situation?

I actually am not sure if I'm going to go through with this whole cha-cha thing. I did the first part of the testing stuff (simple questions, typing test, etc), no problem there. But now I'm supposed to do the simulation, and honestly... with the pay changes, it just doesn't seem worth it. Anyone still doing this and think it's worthwhile (or not?)? I literally found out about the changes in pay right after I submitted my app a few weeks ago. I almost just don't want to do it out of spite. It seems like such a rotten thing to do.

Also, I tried texting a fairly simple question just to see how it would work, and I never got a response (except the immediate "thanks for using cha-cha / we'll have your answer for you shortly" bit, or whatever it says... so I know it went through). Huh. They're really not impressing me, so far.

I have been doing ChaCha for a while. I really love it- even with the pay being changed. I make more doing this than I have since I had my first DS. It's easy- and still on my terms.

ChaCha doesn't work on Macs.

I was able to fill out the initial form on my Mac. I haven't been asked to do a typing test or answer any additional questions yet though.

I use my Mac for ChaCha. What browser are you using? They've been doing some updating of the site, so you may have hit it while they were working out problems.

How long did it take those of you who are guides to complete training? I have to do 10 searches to become an "official" guide, but the questions come in soooooooo slowly. I messed up the first and had to abort, and have only received one more in the half hour or so that I have been online.

There is no training. The 10 questions are a test...they will send you an email in a few days to let you know if you passed or not. If you pass, you become a guide.

And late at night (10pm) the questions come in one after another. During the day you'll be waiting a while.
