Pregnant man and breastfeeding - Page 2

The last I heard he was still pg- congrats to their family!

I'm glad to hear that the mom is breastfeeding- I knew the dad couldn't due to prior breast surgury (the surgury that made his female breasts look like a male chest and probably removed all the milk ducts.) I hope she's able to produce a full milk supply- many women who didn't go through pg are low-supply moms and many need to supplement.

I think the poster was replying to the PP, who said she (the PP) didnt have to use hormones....the poster was saying "but you had given birth, therefore the hormones to make milk were already in your body"...whereas the mom with the "pg husband" is more akin to an adoptive parent, in that she didnt give birth. So we are talking about two different moms!

I heard that on the news - DH kept laughing at me for being so excited that she was inducing lactation.

Best wishes to the happy mama and papa and the GORGEOUS baby!

Oh I thought she was referring to the other

No matter how she does it, through hormones, herbs, using an SNS with donor milk or formula, I think it's cool that it's being talked about in mainstream media. Perhaps it will "normalize" adoptive breastfeeding and people will begin to see how important is even the tiniest drop of breastmilk. I used an SNS for 2 years with my 3 year old and so many people were like, "why don't you just give a bottle?" And I would tell them that although I'm low supply, breastmilk doesn't have to be all or nothing and I found the easiest way to supplement her was through an SNS so that she received breastmilk and supplementation at the same time.

she had been pg before, which can make it easier to induce lactation.

This is pretty cool. I saw them on Oprah, and this was what I kept thinking about. I'd love to see them go back on Oprah and have them talk about inducing lactation (among all the other things that people will be curious about).
