5 cm and 80% effaced

so, at my weekly appt with the midwife this morning ( I am 37 weeks and a few days) he did an internal and found that I was 5 cm dilated and 80% effaced! Last few nights were rough-almost no sleep...back pain and feeling sick...so I guess my body was working...but there have been no contractions since this morning! Midwife sent me home and if nothing happens in the next two hours I will be taking an ambien that the mw gave me so I can get some sleep. I really hope that contractions start in the next few days...I can't imagine waiting another week after today's news!
DH spent day putting together co-sleeper and cleaning the house! I am so excited!

Wow, I envy you. I wish things would get moving here. I'm only 1cm and not effaced at all (edd is August 14th). Hope you'll start laboring soon. Good luck.

I think I'm like that too. I get almost all the way there before labor actually starts

not in your DDC but couldn't help but want to let you know that your a lucky girl! I wish I could have started the 'real' birthing time with half of the work done already! And with all the Bh's I've been having this time around, I think that they should be doing *some* work! Good luck and I hope all goes well and you're holding your baby in your arms soon!

nothing new since I lost my mucous plug last night...mw said people can walk around for weeks at 5 cm dilated...getting a bit upset now...thought it was starting...more waiting...

Hang in there, Aimee! I'd suggest doing something fantastic and indulgent, if you can swing it--go get a pedicure!

Well, still no action since some intermittent contractions on Thursday, and a bit of a meltdown on Thursday night-felt very confused and scared-I guess this is part of being a parent-real unpredictability. So, it is Saturday morning and still no baby. I am trying to accept that it could be weeks away!
