favorite cheap yarn?

I'm kinda broke, but of course I'm itching to start another sweater. I don't really want anything 100% arcrylic but everything else seems so expensive. So, whats your favorite budget yarn? I was thinking about trying Berroco Comfort, its arcrylic/nylon but its pretty cheap and usually Berroco is pretty good quality... suggestions?

Patons Classic Wool, when it's on sale at $4/ball. It's about 220 yards, so a great price for the amount of yarn.

Elann's lines of yarns. Nothing over $5 and most in the $2.50 - $3.00 range. Alpaca, Bamboo, Hemp, Silk, Wool it's all covered.

Knitpicks is pretty cool too, but I find I order from Elann more often.

Cascade Eco is really nice, and the hanks are huge. (200 grams, I think)

I like Encore. It's 75% wool, 25% acrylic. It sells for $6 at my local yarn shop and it's about 220 yards. They have tons of colors.

I just like shopping the Webs clearance page! I recently found some the linen blend yarn for Pink Mimosa (IWK Summer 200?) for $2.98/skein or less (can't remember exactly)! And a wool/cashmere/silk blend for maybe $4.50/skein! I've used their Valley Yarn Stockbridge, it's a 50/50 wool alpaca blend and liked it very much. It's also less than $4.00/skein with a put up of around 110yds/skein. If you like orange (I think that's all they have left) they had some Berroco Ultra Alpaca for less than $4.00/skein - with a put up of 200 or so yds/skein. I snagged some in camel.

You also might want to check out Smiley's. They have great deals on everything. You might be able to find normally expensive yarn for super cheap!

They have a minimum purchase...but maybe you can split with someone?

They have 100% wool Moda Dea Cartwheel on sale for $1.50 a ball.

That's what I was going to say. My local AC Moore has these huge skeins of it on clearance for $3.99, I've been stocking up on tons of colors.

I was going to suggest berroco comfort. as far as acrylics go, it's not half bad! They sell it at my LYS, and I picked some up for a baby project. I've been pleased with it.

They have a dk weight and sock wt too. I got a few balls of the dk wt and am going to make some bed socks with it..

For cheap wool I like cascade 220. You can usually find it pretty inexpensively and it comes in a lot of colors.

I like peaches and cream and sugar and cream, but I've used Lion Brand "wool ease" lately which is a wool blend and it is pretty nice and only 2.99.
