newbie with a question

Hi everyone,

I am an MDC lurker, and I usually only post in my tribe. I wanted to ask if anyone had ideas or has ever made thier own large purse - more of a tote really.

I'm trying to stay away from leather and buying retail, thats all I'm finding. So I thought I might try and give it a go, just make it myself. I can sew my own cloth diapers and patchwork quilts, how hard can it be, right?

Any ideas or links to share?

Just last week, I was thinking the same thing and I looked up some web pages that have free patterns for diaper bags- you might be able to adapt these:

I have not made either of them, I acutally went to a local annual craft fair and found a great bag for $16, that some one else had to do the work to make. I really wish I had her pattern. Its a simple one strap shoulder bag that is fully lined.

Good luck with your project

thank you!

I so appreciate the links! I will start right on that!

Since you were able to find those so quick, I wonder if you have any idea where to locate a pattern for little toddler pants. I'm making them reversible, drawstring, with the bottoms that roll up several times to adjust for height.
Any ideas ?

HTH

Sorry, I don't know anything about making toddler pants, though. : Maybe you could try a Yahoo search for free children's clothing patterns, I have had amazing luck using Yahoo.
The pants you have in mind sound awsome! Good luck!

Anyone

Anyone else think they have any ideas on where I'd get a wide-leg, drawstring, reversible pants pattern for a toddler?
LOL, it is quite a bill to fill!

I would try altering an existing pattern for the toddler pants. Use one that has just one peice for each leg. It really wouldn't be very hard, even if you're inexperienced. I use cheap sheets from a thrift store to experiment with when I'm trying to create a pattern. You've got a great idea!
