Out of the mouths of babes- also called, "Pre locker room talk..."

I'm a preschool teacher and the childen in my class are all three years old, though not all potty trained. The other day, I was in the bathroom changing two little boys' pullups at the same time. One little boy is white and circed, the other is black and intact. (Black/white description is nessesary for story.) I changed the first boy first (white, circed), and asked him to go wash his hands while I changed the other little boy's pullup, but he kinda hung around next to us talking. When I had the second (black, intact) boy diaperless, the first little boy was kinda checking out the second little boy's penis. After a minute or two, the first little boy (circed) says, "Hey look!" and I braced myself for what I thought would be "THE QUESTION" for sure, but no, he ended with "your penis is very brown like your legs and my penis is very pink like MY legs! That's cool" And people say intact boys will be teased in the locker room...

That's a cute story, but I feel bad for the circ'd boy being circ'd. Thanks for sharing.

Kind of interesting that the black kid was intact. I thought amongst black people, it was near 100% circ rate.

In my hospital more black babies remain intact than white babies.
I think it greatly varies across the country.

When my son was still 2 he once said to me- regarding a circumcised friend of his-- "he has a roll-up penis"

So I tried to explain (in very non-judgmental way) what it was (not "rolled up" lol). I have to admit that the discussion came a little younger than I expected!

That is so cute!

My three-year-old nephew is circ'ed and saw his intact friend's penis last week. He said it looked "like a worm!" Not sure if that is cute or sad.

It varies by region and by "era".

Hardly.

I think for black Americans it's about 80 cut/ 20 not? Someone will have to jump in here with stats. But it's nowhere near 100 percent.

And blacks from the Caribbean and South America are almost universally intact.

Around here it seems like most non-white kids are intact, but then most white kids are too I think it has more to do with A.) education level and B.) insurance. What I mean by that is, it tends to be the more educated people who opt out of it, or at least those willing to do some research, coupled with those who have insurance that doesnt cover it-and in my state, Medicaid doesnt cover it so a lot of low income people also end up leaving their kids intact. Anyone of any color can cover those groups.
