We just did ours! Here is what you do:
When you give birth save your placenta in a plastic grocery bag. Make sure your midwife saves as much blood from inside the sac as possible to make prints with.
Buy a pad of watercolor paper. When you are ready to do the prints, put the placenta on the table with the baby's side facing upward.
Then rub a little blood from the bag onto the surface of the placenta. Then take a piece of paper and lay flat onto the placenta and lightly press down on it.
Then peel the paper off of the placenta carefully.
You can't just plop the placenta onto paper, make sure you do it the other way around or it won't come out!
