Remember my opinion that videos are a powerful tool in the fight against RIC? Well, this one should embarrass any pro-circer.

I know there has been past discussion of the Stanford Nursery circumcision site, but I just saw the Gomco video again for the first time in a year and it strikes me once more how this file is in its own way worse than the globally-castigated Toronto footage I'm sure we've all viewed since its release a decade back.

True the baby in the Stanford setting cries far less and I hope to God he suffered less than the child in the 1998 surgery, but the doctor doing the mutilation is absolutely chilling to listen to.

First off, I've never heard a circumciser be so obvious in getting his jollies over the procedure he's carrying out. Not only doesn't this Dr. Greene, as has been observed before, use sterile gloves during much of the surgery, he massages the infant's penis with his bare hands! He also uses the term "pretty penis" more than once---WTH is THAT about!?---and the tone of his voice holds an excitement that...

Look. I guess what I'm coming to is this video should be used by a medical review board to investigate the manner in which this circumciser carries out his operations, and it should also be rammed down the throats of those who say some doctors don't get sadistic delight out of what they're doing. I defy anyone to view this disgusting clip and make a case that the physician was not aroused by his assault on the baby.

Pardon me if I'm crude, but as I sit here with my blood boiling the whole thing wants to make me puke!!!

I had your exact same reaction when I watched that Stanford video. It's downright chilling and he has a sort of pedophilia creepy tone to his voice. That video makes me cry. I just want to save the baby..and I can't.

OMG - How absolutely revolting that video is. The perv.... er.... doctor admits that this is a cosmetic procedure and goes on to use the words "beautiful" and "pretty" innumerable times. Not only that, but he is totaly consumed with removing every piece of inner foreskin.

OMG, I just watched this...I almost puked

I must admit that baby cried MUCH less on this video, but I'm also pretty sure that they "baby" him so much just for the video. I doubt he normally spends so much time on each circ.
And yes, he did say few times what makes circ pretty and compared circ'd penis to rosebud and said it's perfect, but as much as I actually WANTED to see a pedophile in him (of course I wanted this UA violation doctor to be as sick as possible) I must admit I failed to see that. Yes, he got his brain all messed up (he admits it's cosmetic and he still sees nothing wrong with performing it); and yes, he definitely sold out his DO NO HARM oath for a $$, but I think he honestly believes that this is what makes penis perfect and therefore, that he is doing a good thing for this baby (at least, these are just the vibes I got).

Very sad, disgusting and disturbing that people can look at a perfect intact penis and think it needs a cosmetic surgery to be perfect. Just feel like puking

Me too. I don't know why I do this to myself -- I knew it was going to be unpleasant. I noticed that too. However, I also noticed that pretty much every time the doc said, "Okay, he really shouldn't feel this," the baby would immediately start squawking again. Then the doc was all, "Oh, he seems to be feeling that a little ... give him some more sugar." : I agree, too, that it's doubtful that they're this solicitous or meticulous with all the babies.

I also couldn't help noticing that the baby was NOT crying at the beginning of the video, even though he was already strapped into the circumstraint. Isn't that the excuse that's always given when they do cry, that they just don't like being strapped down? I guess this baby didn't get the memo. He was perfectly quiet until the instant they started fiddling with his penis.

I wouldn't have said pedophile either, although there were a lot of things that I found very unsettling: his failure to wear gloves at the outset, the massaging motion he made with the alcohol wipe, all the rosebud talk, etc. I get that he takes pride in his "work" (yuck), but those things are totally inappropriate.

It IS really hard for me to believe that anyone, even someone who's pro-circ, could watch this video and not get an uneasy feeling from it, though. Just because I wouldn't say the guy came across like a pedophile doesn't change the fact that the mindset itself (that it's good to alter a newborn's penis to suit an adult's sexual preferences) is sick, sick, sick. It's also glaringly obvious from the video that this is the real reason that the US continues to circumcise as a matter of routine. It's absolutely vile.

Again, I agree that he thinks he's performing a valuable service, but (like everyone here, I'm sure) his views and his actions are no less repulsive for it. All his talk about what perfect penises look like was so ridiculous -- did it never occur to him that "perfect" is totally subjective, and that most likely the majority of the world's population would have said this baby's penis was anything but perfect when he was done butchering it?

The only thing that keeps me from flying out to CA and punching this guy's lights out is the knowledge that he probably feels the way he does because he was victimized himself. Not that it excuses him for all the harm he's done, but I do think he's completely blind to it because the same thing was done to him when he was a helpless newborn.

As a survivor of sexual assault I have to say that I got some very strong pedophilia vibes from that doctor. I had to stop watching, and I didn't even get to the "rosebud" talk that the pp's are referring to. The whole time I'm watching him "massage" that poor baby's genitals I was thinking that his fondling that boy's penis is in and of itself a crime. For those of us that have daughters would we let a ped massage our baby girls like that? WTF?! That man is not doing it out of some desire to give the world more attractive penises, he's doing it because he is a sick, sick man deeply entrenched in his own denial and desire to mutilate baby boys gentials.

No excuses for him, hands down! I have to stop writing now for fear of being banned from this site.

This video is edited. If you notice it is "paused" a lot- presumably to take out the bits where the baby cries and they have to "settle him down" again.

omg, I just watche done of the videos and bawled my eyes out! i am so thankful for my intact boy. I have two friends who are expecting and their DH's both want to circ. I promptly forwarded them the video.

A belated thanks to everyone who took a moment to respond to my original post, and especially thanks to those who steeled themselves to view the online footage in question. I knew it wasn't only me that would find this among the most disgustingly disturbing circumcision videos that's out there...and for that reason I sincerely hope it's viewed by every couple out there expecting a baby boy. Let them see what goes on in reality during infant mutilation surgery, and let them catch the vibe too that this particular doctor was (to say the very least) a bona fide creep.
