Skin on skin contact vs overheating?

I am turning into That Mom; the one who worries about everything! But it's scary, having this tiny creature to care for, and I am still so new to it...

Anyway, overheating has been a huge concern for me. Our apartment doesn't have a/c, and it has been really hot out lately. I was told to watch the back of DD's neck if I'm concerned - if it feels hot or sweaty, then I should remove a layer.

Well, she's already down to wearing practically nothing, but when I hold her for any period of time we both get really sweaty. I don't know whose sweat it is, honestly... but she feels really hot to me. Her temp comes down when I put her down in her cradle.

So I'm torn between cuddling her and letting her cool off. I don't want to just leave her alone all day.... but I don't want to bake her either. Am I worrying about nothing? She has had a lot of messy diapers, but less "loose" than they used to be. I'm not sure about wet diapers - I can't really tell when she has a messy diaper if it's wet also - same yellow colour. :

Add this to her newfound fussiness with BF.... gah! Take the liquid, little girl!!!

nearly nothing is FINE in the summer. our culture tends to overdress their babies (and often just dressing at all is overdressing!) to avoid the sweat issue lay a single layer of fabric between you and baby- a prefold or flat diaper, a receiving blanket, etc. baby naked in nothing but a dipe, coverless, is perfect in the hot weather. a baby that is chilled will show it with tiny goosebumps. a simple side-snap shirt can be good at night with a diaper.

when my first was born, it was so hot we put a fan on him while he slept naked. now we live somewhere even hotter and i am due *today*! i dont know how we will keep this one cool.

My babies were both born in the summer and we don't have A/C either. They were basically naked when we were at home. You can also take showers and baths together to cool down and get skin to skin contact or have a fan blowing on you.
