Butt Sweater Question

Hi
I made a few butt sweaters for a friend from old sweaters I felted.
They fit well around the waist, across the butt and around the legs, but she thinks they are not tall enough, they droop off of her ds. I got them back and cut another piece of the sweater to add on at the waist but the problem is the seam seems awfully bulky- 2 layers of thick felted sweater- and potentially irritating to the wearer.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

if you piece them together well and use a wide & tight zigzag stitch, you won't have to deal with a fat seam rubbing against the babe.
