Good idea, or really dumb idea?

I am thinking about getting one of those little exercise trampolines for my dc to jump on inside the house.

The reason is that its really hot right now, outside, and we dont have a walkable street (fast cars) and the yard isnt very good for playing in with all the fire ants.

We go swimming a few times a week at my parents house but the kids need more exercise.

Trampoline in the house? Or no?

They are 5 and 2.5 and we have all tile floor. :

Great idea.

One with those handles might help if you're worried about them falling onto the tile floor.

Your kids would love it. It's a great idea.

We have one that was given to us by our neighbor. The neighbor jumps on her trampoline every day because she says it helps her lymph system. Dd thinks they are really boring. She'll jump for about 30 seconds, then goes on to other things. We got it when she was 3 and she's 6 now. I've used it more than she has.

They're also very cumbersome to store. I'm not putting you off of them. We like having ours. I'm just very, very glad that we didn't actually spend money on it.

I think it's a fine idea.

I'd be fine with having a trampoline inside the house if I had the space (which I don't - well at least not permanently). Some of the jogging tramps aren't very bouncy though, and maybe not much fun. A good bouncy one would be great. I second the handle idea - though be prepared for your 5 year old to do some hair-raising things with it!

If you have the space, I'd go for it!

Great idea! I want to get one too. :

Yep, great idea. We love ours. it's a kid trampoline with a handlebar. and they make good use of that handlebar, let me tell you - not only to hold on to jump higher, but to swing through, flip over, and all manner of other shenanigans!

Eh, I'm not sure. The rate of injury on those is probably less than an outdoor one, but I'm still not sure I'd take the risk. THough, DD (22 mo) is still pretty clutzy.

Awesome idea! We have a mini round one for the girls (2 and 4) and they've never had an accident. In the beggining we used to surround it with stuffed animals and cushions, but no one's fallen off. In fact, their balance and control are excellent on it. It's a FABULOUS way to burn off extra energy and it's been the source of countless imaginative games (superhero, rocketship, circus, etc.).

BTW our round one has slightly padded edges and is maybe 4 inches off the ground, so there really is no way it could hurt anyone.

Uck, I hate to be the party pooper, but I wouldn't get one. I just remember in girl scouts, a trampoline was considered more dangerous than, well, almost anything else. Seemed wacky to me, but apparently the injury rate is really high for those suckers... 2.5yo? Tile floor? Um, nope.

I think the high injury rate goes with the large outdoor kind.

I got one for my DS last winter to help him blow off some steam when it was too cold to play outside. It was a sanity-saver for both of us! We have one with the padded edges and handle, and while DS has done some crazy daredevil things on it he's never gotten hurt.

We have one. The best thing about it is it allows me to say, "Stop jumping on the couch! If you want to jump, go jump on your trampoline."

Another vote for, good idea.

Where is the best place to get a mini-trampoline?

I've never seen them in stores....?

I'm sure it could be ordered online, but the shipping might be high?

To those who bought them, where did you get them?
