Anyone start Christmas crafting yet? - Page 16

Finally finished a picnic blanket.Just as I was about to finish I noticed it had a hole.Uhg!I sewed a little heart over the hole though and it looks pretty cute...at least that's what I'm telling myself.

Please tell me I'm not the only one still "elfing" away.

Haven't been back to this thread in weeks but im here too.

Left to make this next week

*finish making stockings 3 left
I need to felt the rest of the sweaters and will be set

*bean bags for DS
I have teenage mutant ninja turtle pants to cut up for fabric. The pants were given to me by a friend who had them stashed away for the last 15 years
Whats the best filler? beans or rice?

*a couple doll outfits for DD
have the fabric and patterns

*a couple boxer shorts for DH
I have the pattern and the elastic
Need to find fabric. Something thick but soft. I might use an old sheet or something for these.

*If time allows, a couple pairs of felted slippers for the ILs
need to felt those old sweaters! Oh how I wish I had a washer and dryer right now.

So tonight - I'm going to likely finish the Etsy tutu, cut out and hopefully sew Mary Ellen's apron, and try to cut out the pajamas from patterns I have.

I've also done a lot of photogifts including a photo book, a photo ornament, and lots of framed photographs (including altering pictures and printing)

I've done a lot, but still a lot to do!

I really need to get to work on something for my husband.He's just been around too much.I didn't take my opportunity the last leg of his tour(he's a musician)and now I'm paying the price(or he is depending on how you look at it.)

I've made 3 crochetted rag rugs, a shrug, a sweater (almost, it's too big though), a scarf & purse (to give instead of the sweater since I don't have time to frog it and start over), lots of reusable shopping bags. Bike inner tube pen holders for my dad and brother.

Need to finish, dd's crochetted wrap, a pillow that was attempt #1 for a wrap but ended up being too big and heavy so I'm turning it into a pillow for her bed so she can lean up against the wall and read/play/etc. I also need to make about 6 loaves of bread and 4 kinds of snack mixes to give away. I ordered photobooks/calendars at the beginning of the month but there was some problem and they aren't coming. So last Saturday I ordered more from another site and I'm hoping they get here by Monday when we celebrate Christmas with my parents, brother and sil.

i'm going to try to do slippers too. well see if i actually get them done or not. ds birthday is just after christmas so i could make them for his birthday.

beansnrice- i used beans for the bean bags cos thats what i had. i am sure either one would be fine.

well so far the gifts ive made went over really well. ds. got wrist/arm warmers, slippers, pencil roll, a hooded cape, bean bags, all of which he loved loved loved! i feel so successsful. and i gotta say i spent almost no money (which is good because tbh i didnt have more than almost none to spend it the first place) he loves his stuff and is sitting in the front room playing with it all.

it feels so good to have a handmade holiday!

I know I never posted many in-progress pics, but here are my finished Christmas crafts:

Pocket Gnome Baby Doll made of a tshirt and receiving blanket; pocket made of a felted sweater. Also you can see a little felted snowman in the tree, too. Apparently it tasted good, too.

Pocket baby's twin for my niece. This is actually the first one I made, but I used the t-shirt for the second one because it makes a rounder body. This one, when pulled out of the pocket, is kind of cylindrical!

Small Waldorf doll Made of receiving blanket and scraps. I have yet to sew clothes!

Playsilks These have already shown tons of uses- from weather to cookie dough!! These have already sparked Noli's imagination: she spread a playsilk over the dollhouse and told me it was a storm!

Needle felted ornaments I originally made these just to have around the house, but they looked nice sitting on the tree branches. I'll probably keep them out for play all year.

I received a jigsaw so now I'm looking forward to making wooden toys!!

It looks like I didn't follow my original list too closely. I am horrible at sticking to the plan! I still plan to make most of those things... some day!!

my grammas clothing was all double knit polyester pants suits with cigarette burn holes ALL down the front. i don't think scarves made out of those would go over very well. but i bet the ones you made are loverly.

do you have a flikr or other photo site? we would LOVE to se them.

thanks so much! the hard part was covering the book with heavy paper. it was a johnathon adler desings blank book but it didnt have a blank cover or even a colored was that would have been right.

the glue-gunning turned out really nice irl.
