PP Mamas food ideas?

So now that some of us are pp, I was wondering what everyone is cooking for meals (if you've already used up your freezer supply that is!)? I'm struggling!! I want to cook something that's healthy and good for bfing with out packing on the pounds but is also yummy at the same time. Last night we had grilled chicken, rice, and steamed veggies. It was pretty bland to be honest.

So, what's on your plate?

Oatmeal is really nice for breastmilk supplies. And, you can make a big batch & just reheat for the next couple mornings.

Beets & greens are great for breastmilk, too. My FAVORITE beet recipe is to boil the beats & then sauté the beet greens in olive oil & garlic. Mmmm. Slice beets & toss all together. Mmmmm. Oh, man! I need some beets NOW!!!!!

Honestly, I'm trying to decide what to make for dinner right now. I want beets, but I don't have any. Hmmm...

I've made spaghetti A LOT lately. Oatmeal is another favorite. We get these little packets from Costco, and some of them are really good.
PB&J sandwiches, and also toast with eggs (sunny side up). Basically anything that can be made fast.
However, it's still a struggle for me most days. Oh, and Malt-o-meal. The kids love it, and so do I. Pancakes when possible, and I've made split pea soup once so far also.

I have been thinking about this lately too. I plan on cooking all of our meals this week...

Tomato, basil and fresh mozzarella salad with grilled fish
Chicken curry and rice with some type of locally grown veggie
Ginger-basil turkey burgers and fruit salad
Fresh veggie pasta with white wine-garlic sauce
Homemade pizza

Not sure if any of these foods are specifically "good" for breastfeeding but I figure staying well fed is good for breastfeeding Plus I'm not having any supply issues, my poor baby wakes up in a puddle at least once a night....

I am going to try to get most of my dinner prep done in the afternoon while DD naps so cooking dinner is just a matter of throwing things together and cooking them.

I'm dreading having to start cooking again... my aunt and my mother have been making dinner every day for us since the baby was born. All I have done is boil pasta for lunch and make sandwiches. When I do start back up, it will have to be in huge quantities so that there are always leftovers... which won't be easy, given how much my husband and brother eat.

Ug. I haven't cooked anything since before babe was born Tuesday. My aunt was in town and my mom's staying with us, so they took care of 3 squares a day- it was really nice.

Now I'm relying on hubby for lunch and supper. I've managed to scrounge up some sort of breakfast for dds and myself the last couple days. It's also sucky here because I needed to go grocery shopping before the babe came, didn't get to it. DH hates grocery shopping.

So... pretty much it's pasta and sandwiches at our house for the moment. I've been debating putting a chicken in the crockpot this morning. I think we'll be having lots of crock-pot meals in the near future- It's way too darn hot to have my oven on, and I want something I can throw in and forget about until I'm hungry. lol Have to stock up on mire-poix veg when I do get to the store.

I'm kind of craving lasagna now that I can tolerate pasta sauce again- but I don't wanna make it!!! Maybe my mom will take pity on me when she comes back this weekend.

I wish I had one of those sweet old school southern aunts who would come over and make me biscuits and real mashed potatoes, etc. And do some laundry. Anyone know where I can beg, borrow, or steal one?

Cooking?

I have been periodically trying to get up to cook and clean, but each time it has made me dizzy & has made my PP bleeding heavier. :/ I'm on self-imposed bedrest at the moment...

I've been living on a frozen stash of steak & kidney pies w/ steamed broccoli, swiss chard or spinach on the side. Cold salads are my friends too - I made potato salad & bean salad during one of my kitchen runs. Easy enough to make, and then I can just dig into it when I get hungry...

dp has been doing all of the cooking. and getting some take out a few times he's made white beans and kale and tomato and carrots and garlic and put it over ww pasta or brown rice. it's really tasty and pretty easy, too. breakfast has been either oatmeal or eggs and fruit.

i'm not really feeling like i want to get up and cook yet, so i'm happy. and i'm also glad he's making like, healthy stuff, instead of his usual favorite, which would be jack in the box. lol.

I don't think this is particularly healthy, but I found a bunch of stuff from Costco that I can just heat up. Organic spinach and cheese ravioli w/pesto sauce, marinated beef that I can just pan fry, grilled chicken--precooked, fresh shrimp that I can marinate and broil for a few minutes, shrimp pad thai, frozen chicken breasts, 7 grain salad, chicken apple sausage, etc. We get vegetable delivery every other week, and I pick up fruits and other vegetables from the farmer's market. I generally don't like going to Costco just because everything is so big, but I have found convenient foods that I can just heat up. I have been able to pack leftovers for my husband's lunch as well, so he doesn't have to buy stuff. Hopefully I will be able to get back into cooking more when the baby is a little older--
