another lunchbox thread

Thread Starter
actually, I have no idea if there have been a million lunchbox threads, but this is my first time sending my no-sandwich kid to school. He's been homeschooled until this coming year, so I'd also rather not send him with a lunchbox and thermos to keep track of. Keeping up with the school bag and papers will be a huge enough challenge. So, requirements are:

Can be packed in paper or disposable plastic (not my first choice but on a temporary basis, ok)
Not a sandwich
Not needing to be warmed up
Not hummus

Protein will be the hardest - he is fine with many fruits/veggies but doesn't like many meats except chicken. Right now the two choices I see are cold chicken and hard-boiled eggs.

help with any suggestions is appreciated!

Subbing -- I'm in a similar situation. I've packed lunches before, but am always looking for good ideas.

Some easy ones I'll throw in to get this thread started:

*Bagel and cream cheese
*Pasta salad (and any other pasta that can be eaten cold - my dc's will eat spaghetti and macaroni & cheese cold)
*Muffins (I always load mine up with wheat germ and flax)
*Crackers, cheese and deli meat
*Salad with sunflower seeds
*Granola Bars / Trail Mix
*Yogurt
