It gets confusing, because there are two meanings for the word "soaker". One is an absorbent layer added to the diaper. But when we're talking about wool, we're actually talking about using it as a water- proof/resistant OUTER cover. So microfiber won't work as a cover, which I think is what Turtlemum is looking for

And Turtle--yes, I believe an ME cover will work over those diapers. I can't say for sure, but MOST waterproof covers work over fitteds/prefolds/etc.

I'm sorry - I didn't realize you could use wool for covers! Yes, I was talking about inserts that would be an added absorbent layer in a pocket type diaper.

So I went to a local-ish CD store and it was well worth the drive.

1. because I got to see a variety of dipes up close and personal and learn how much I really love my MEs.

2. because I figured out that I DON'T have prefolds, I have flats...that might explain some of the confustion last time around.

3. because I might try to hang onto my flats and use them as stuffers in a pocket diaper (anyone think this is a good idea or a bad one?)

4. because they owner is reworking her super cute fitteds (S, M, L currently) into a one size design that should be ready before this kiddo is born...

So I am off to rehabilitate my MEs and see how that goes, then to dream about getting out of my comfort zone and buy some new and exciting diapers at her store....::

LOL. I was seriously scratching my head at your post for a minute until it dawned on me that you were using soaker in the OTHER sense. All this CD lingo gets so confusing.

I've never tried them as a pocket stuffer. It seems like they might not be very absorbent by themselves, but as a "booster" with another insert, they might be helpful. Some people really like flats for newborns, and you can always use them as doublers inside other dipes.

Guess I'll jump in here. I've been browsing and buying at hyenacart this past week, so I have stuff coming in the mail still. So far I have a few things.

2 xsmall Thirsties Fab fitted
3 small wahm fitteds
1 small bumkins aio (i found this brand new when I was cleaning out my closet...lol)
3 small carriers and cloth wahm fitteds (just got these in the mail)
1 aristocrat small wool soaker
1 lana wool soaker (i found this in my closet too, brand new!)
1 bumkins small cover (another closet find)
1 nb bummis sww
2 sm bummis sww
1 nb wool cover wahm made
1 sm PUL wahm made cover
2 nb fleece soakers wahm made

accessories:
dz. cotton doublers
4 hemp fleece contour doublers
dritz pins and snappis

On the way:
1 nb and 2 small nanipoos wahm fitteds
2 sm lil poo catchers wahm fitteds

Still wanted:

I'd like to get some small ME airflow covers and maybe some sandies (i've always loved them).
I've thought about getting some Kissaluvs too but I'm not too much of a fan, but they are trim, and I like that, at least from what I remember when I cd'd Jess. Other than that, I'm going to concentrate more on getting "smalls" over "newborn" size. My babies, on average, are around 8 1/2 lbs when born, so I'm thinking this boy will be around the same. Oh and I'd like to get some wool longies too. that's it!

Well my washer died this a.m. It's been a while in coming.

But there's a silver lining. I now own a spanking brand new FRONT LOADER : Suddenly all those prefolds that need prepping are very tempting!

YAY!! My old washer & dryer died within a week of each other about 3 months ago. The dryer actually caught on fire! I saved for a month (while going to a laundrymat, yuck) to get one of the new HE washer/dryer sets.

It's the first brand new set I've ever had you would have thought I got a new porshe I was so happy. CONGRATS!

I was thinking they'd fit better inside my wraps than a prefold, but I hear they aren't as absorbant?

Actually I wouldn't care HOW absorbant they were if they 1. contain poo, and 2. I could get 12 or so. They are too expensive for me to buy more than like, six, new.

I LOVE our flats. I use two of them together and fold them all up. They are so trim and absorbant when you get the folded layers in the correct position. Wyatt wears them without a cover around the house and with a cover for our and about. I also use them for doublers as well. When you fold them all up as a doubler, there is something like 12 layers of absorbancy.

I mostly love them because they wash and dry in one cycle and never, ever need stripping.

KL's are great, and pretty find used on the diaperswappers.com for a sweet price.

I have gotten quite a few diapers off diaperswappers.com They arnt new but look close to it ( and cheeper!) I have a mix of mutts, rightousbaby,KHW ( kindhearted woman) and a few wahm mades OH and some swaddlebee's nb ( they are very very tiny)

Most of my LO's diapers are from Diaperswappers, it really rocks. They don't don't look liek the new new ones, but after your first wash or two neither with your new ones, so you might as well have cheaper ones, IMO. Happy stalking!


Okay, what was that all inclusive every size awesome diaper pattern someone here recomened to me? I rememeber thinking their fleece wrap patter looked good, but I can't find my bookmark and pregnancy brain ate the name.
