August IUIs - Page 3

Soc - Sorry to hear about AF knocking on your door, but if it makes you feel any better she came to my house too! Looks like we will be on the same schedule this month! Good luck with the injections. That is where i'll be going if the lower dose of clomid doesn't work this coming cycle. : for both of us and everyone else too!!!

corikodjo- lets hope it was just a fluke and you were sleeping with you mouth open or something like that. Your batteries in your therm. are okay right??? Hopefully it will be up tomorrow. Keep us posted.

poetgirl- Have you always O early??? I O early last month, but i think it was b/c of the clomid i took. I think I O on CD 11 actually but when i had my proges. check on CD12 they said I hadn't, but i had gotten a pos. OPK the day before and i felt the pain like i was Oing so who knows. Are you on meds?? Sorry there are so many people on here i loose track sometimes.

AFM: like i said AF showed up today (brown and light but probably expected since the clomid thinned my lining so much, wouldn't you think?). I called the RE's office to schedule my CD 10 U/S for next Sat and asked about Femara (letrozole) instead of clomid and she said they pulled it off the market and it is not FDA approved for fertility reasons and their office doesn't use it b/c of that. So I'm going with the lower dose of clomid (50mgs) this month and we will see what happens, I guess my next step would be injections. I can't believe i will start taking them on this coming Monday already. Time is flying by, which in some ways is good, but I'm not getting any younger and we haven't gotten our BFP either!!!!!!!! Why can't life be fair???????? That, is the question of the day!!

Hey Blue, Yeah I tend to O early yet my FSH is low so it doesn't jive w/ POF. I've always tended toward that, but have been even earlier lately--my RE thinks that it takes me about 5 days to get AF after coming off prog. that it is throwing off the FP. SUCH a catch-22! I am not on meds now. We did 4 rounds w/ clomid and I O'd early 3 times on it, it gave me cysts and thinned my lining. Since I O on my own, I decided to try a few really super supplemented/acupuncture/TCM cycles (maybe it worked with a later O?). We are in the process of moving and selling our house and have to be apart for two mths ('cept when I fly back during O) so further med. intervention is not an option for awhile.

Now, I have no answer, sadly, to your Q of the day, but I can offer much empathy, commiseration and . Sorry about your AF, now is a good time to do your castor oil packs!

Poetgirl - good luck with the "fly-by-Baby dancing"!!! Kinda makes things a little more adventuresome right!!! Hope your house sells fast and hopefully your market is better than ours here in OH!!! I talked to my acupuncturist about the castor oil packs yesterday and she said it would be good for me to start them on CD 3. She wasn't under the impression that it would increase my lining, but that it helps with cramps/clots was my impression. I don't really care at this point, I'm willing to do anything. She is not very happy with me b/c she wants me to take her blood tonic herbs, but I had a bad reaction to the herbs in the past and thought that I was going to have to go to the ER and have my stomach pumped, but i thankfully didn't. My poor DH thought I was going to die. I did drink my first cup of RRL tea tonight. Didn't think it tasted much like raspberry though. Good luck to you with everything!!!!

Hi Y'all. Thanks everyone. I have no idea what is up with my cycle - ff thinks I o'd on Tuesday and I didn't have IUI till Wednesday. I'm cramping an awful lot. I was at a birth last night so this mornings temp is completely off. Longest 2ww EVER!!

Anyone else in 2ww wait?

Blueyezz - hang in there - it's gonna happen for us all! I just know it.

Poetgirl - good luck with selling the house - and keep us posted!

poet - soc - so sorry to here af showed he ugly head!

I'm also in the forever long 2ww. This cycle seems especially long since we did a trigger shot and IUI (usually just clomid). Wait wait wait. I've had really low cramps since trigger night...any ideas?:

I think I am? she said confusedly.
I never detected my surge. I got a shift yesterday (day 13). Today something weird happened. Right at the end of the beep on the therm, it went up another .1 to 97.8 (yesterday's shift was 97.9). So I took it again, twice and both times after that it was 97.6! Now 97.8 would be enough to confirm the shift, but 97.6 is not really. Not sure what to do since I have to take my progesterone once I O. Maybe I should wait one more day tomorrow and see what temp does. What do you think???
All that is to say Cori that I feel your ambiguous O woe!!

Thanks mama-lisa and blueeyezz for your condolences on ol' AF - but I was actually quite pleased to see her. Conceiving the 'natural' way just wasn't working for DH & I, so I'm quite looking forward to the IUI journey... the thought that it MIGHT actually work is exciting! Also it's nice that I actually have someone of medical expertise helping us on our journey - I don't feel like I'm wondering around in the dark so much!

In fact, I've found out a couple of things already:
* although DH sperm count is good, his motility is only 36% (normal is apparently 50%)
* My TSH levels were very low, but my T3 and T4 levels were ok - I've been referred to an endocrinologist, to get things checked out, and get my thyroid on track asap. So, I'll be on the phone trying first thing on Monday to sort an appointment.

Wow! blueeyezz looks like we're cycle buddies I too hope everything will go well this month :

Well, I had my hormone bloods taken today, and also got a blood test to check my rubella immunity... I hope, hope, HOPE that my rubella immunity is HIGH, otherwise I'm gonna have to get a booster shot and sit out any further fertility treatment for 3 months! Keep your fingers crossed for me girls! : : (I never EVER knew that this immunization could wear off for some people!)

In the meantime, I've been instructed to start taking Tamoxifen today (CD2), and continue to take it until CD6.
I also have to start the Gonal-F injections tomorrow night (CD3), until CD7, before going for a scan on CD8 to see what's happening with my follicles.

Goodluck to everyone else for this month! And blueyezz, I'll be keeping an extra eye on you!

Soc- Hey there cycle buddy!!! Glad you are looking forward to the IUI journey. I remember that feeling last month (still kinda have it, but not sure if the clomid is going to be my thing or not). I found that it is just exciting : to be actually doing something that may result in a BFP after all this time trying to do it on your own or as you said "in the dark" - no pun intended!!.. I know it sounds funny, but that is great that they were able to find that your TSH levels were low (not that it is a good thing, but good to actually find something wrong that might be your cause for IF) and now they can treat it and maybe solve your problem. Isn't it awful to have the hope that they can find something wrong with you?? I think that is what happens when you have unexplained IF, you just want to be able to find something that can be fixed to make this whole process easier!!! So is checking your rubella immunity part of your IF workup??? Have a lot of people out there going through this journey had that checked as well???? It is news to me! I will be stalking your chart for sure. You are on CD 3 today too, right??? I think AF is about done for me. I went to my acupuncture lady yesterday to see if she could work her magic and try and fully get rid of all the old lining, don't think there is much in there b/c of the clomid this cycle to begin with, but I'm trying everything.

poetgirl & corikodjo - hope you two have got your cycles figured out!! Sometimes I think the more we analysis the more confusing it gets, especially when you throw all the drugs into the loop. What's a girl to do!!! Hope you all have a busy weekend to help your TWW go by a little faster - you too mama-lisa. Good luck!

Soc - I felt the same way. I've taken clomid for 4 cycles, but nothing else. I liked the u/s and trigger, and IUI. Made me feel like I was doing something more...now we'll see if it worked.

Corikodjo - hopefully your time is passing fast...this 2ww couldn't be longer for me....

Poetgirl - have you used OPK - do they work for you?

Blue - I think if I get a BFN this month, I'm going to switch to gonal F injectibles. RE says you can only be on clomid 6 months.

GoodKarma - hope your feeling better

Here's to a lot of BFP's this month...anyone close to pg testing?

Oh, yes I totally agree! I want ANSWERS! I'm sick of guessing what is wrong with me or DH.

Yep, apparently it is! When the RE told me this, I was majorly pi**ed off - I mean, why didn't my Doctor check my levels before referring me to the RE? I mean, I'd been trying for +12months already at that stage, and I had to wait MONTHS to get an appointment for the RE. I could have got my levels checked, and got a booster (if required) while waiting for an RE appointment!
So, all I can do is hope that my body has been good to me, and has held onto it's rubella immunity. : (apparently most people's immunity levels remain high... it's only a few people who require booster shots)

Yeah, the medical intervention doesn't just help physically but psychologically too. Hopefully all our journeys will come to a pleasant end this month! :

Well, I had my first GONAL-F shot today - bit scary sitting there, needle in hand, hovering over my lower abdomen... but I did it
It wasn't bad at all... though the sizes of the next two needles I'll have to take post-scan (orgalutron and HCG), are bigger!

...But hopefully it will ALLLLL be worth it in the end....

I had this done as part of a "pre-conception" workup so long ago! They also checked my thyroid levels, my CMV immune status, my CFTR gene (the cystic fibrosis gene), and my blood for anemia. I think that was it. I asked for these things specifically, but they are all supposed to be part of a standard pre-conception appointment.

soc, I'm sorry they waited so long to get this stuff done! I hope you're nice and immune so it won't be an issue.

Sorry I haven't been around the past few days. I went for a u/s yesterday and had blood work done and I got the call to say IUI was today.

So I went this morning and IUI #3 is done. Here's hoping for 3rd time lucky!

I'm going for accupuncture in a couple of hours which I'm looking forward too.

Is anyone else in the 2WW yet?
I took a test this am and got a BFN. It's still early...8dpo, but I'm a poas junkie. I heard that if it's neg at this poing the trigger shot is out of my system. How early have any of you got a BFP?

People do get BFPs as early as 8 days -- but some don't get them till 14+dpo. So....keep your fingers crossed and test again in a few days. I'm a POAS junkie myself - so I totally understand.

Hi Cori, I'm 5dpo so I'm right there with ya. GL!!!

However...we leave on our roadtrip from CA to MI to move DH into his PhD program. I fly back on the 23rd and hopefully I get to join him soon, baring this house sale.

Blue, the market sucks here too. It's already been on the market 100 days totally renovated move-in ready. The place we find ourselves in now was NOT the way this was supposed to be working out, and for that matter, that speaks true of our IF expereince. :
So...GL all 2WWers! I will check back in on the 24th and hopefully I'll get some miracle bfp on the road, ya know somewhere in South Dakota.

Happy IUIs and 2WW!

Well, I might be crazy, but I plan to go back to unmedicated this month. Long story short, I've had six IUI's, been pregnant 3 times, had 2 miscarriages, and one healthy baby in the last 2 years. Miscarried attempt #2 and DS was born of attempt #3, completely unmedicated. My last 2 IUI's were closely monitored, scanned, and medicated (Clomid 50 mg each time with triggers), and had me feeling like ripping my skin off...and both resulted in BFN's. The one before that was a trigger only and I miscarried that time. So... I had thought I would throw in the towel by now, but my heart isn't quite ready to stop. however, I can't keep spending this kind of money when I don't have it. So, one more time, unmedicated, unstressed, the only way it seems to have worked for me... NO CLOMID! Can I join you?
Hey Cori & Poet,Count yourselves lucky - you're 4 days ahead of me in the 2WW When are you both testing?

can't wait, sounds like you've been through a pretty rough time. Best of luck for your unmedicated cycle. It's worked for you before, so sending you lots of and let's hope it's a good month for you.

:::
Girls, I just got my blood results from the RE, and my rubella immunity is absolutely fine
:::

I'm SOOO glad!!!

My estrogen levels, etc, apparently were perfectly normal, and my TSH (which they re-tested), is still LOW, but not as low as what it was previously... which is weird! I've an appointment with an endocrinologist, so hopefully he'll be able to shed light on what's exactly happening with my thyroid.

Bring on the IUI!
yayy!!! It's great when you get the news you want to hear!!! Bring on the IUI, indeed.

We had ours yesterday morning, and I had a bit of a temp rise today (near the coverline). Presumably I'll get a more dramatic rise in the days to come, and I can say I'm in the tww soon.
