Any hope of sex to get baby out

Was ruined by a story my mw told today. We were discussing benefits and risks of membrane sweeping just in case I go to next week. I asked about how gentle she could be, and we discussed her personal experience with a mean ob that was very painful, and how she goes out of her way to be the opposite. So, she then told us about one time she was stripping someone and the child grabbed hold of her finger through the bag of water.

DH looked mortified, as this just followed a good discussion about how sex could help get the baby out the most. We got into the car and he looked at me and said - she ruined any chance you had to get lucky. I don't want our son grabbing me while we are having sex. LOL

Thanks mw!! It was a great story, but now I won't get laid until weeks after babe is here

You could point out that unless he is a whale/horse/elephant it is unlikely his little man is adroit enough to get up INSIDE your cervix and sweep around...

yes, his penis is very very unlikely to get grabbed since when she is stipping someones membranes she is up inside the cervix and running her finger along the bag/uterine wall at the edges of the cervical os, no place he will be visiting while dtd.

i find that story very upsetting! why would she strip the membranes of someone whose baby was not head - engaged?! seriously, that freaks me out.

The entire process of stripping the membranes freaks me out!! I can't believe anyone agrees to let someone do this to them!!! It's just another 'standard' practice that's more like legal modern torture.

10 days past my EDD, 4 days out from losing my midwifery care for homebirth (in the UK the NHS will only send your midwife between 38 and 42 weeks outwith that they send an ambulance) i BEGGED for a sweep. However, baby was deeply engaged, midwife was excellent (i didn't even feel discomfort) and i went into labour and delivered, at home, the next day.

I wanted a homebirth. I would have had 10 S&S's before i went to hospital.

The mom she mentioned doing this on was 42 weeks. And it was a 4th or 5th baby - so baby was dipping but not truly engaged. She only sweeps when it is close to 42 weeks or so, and only if the patient allows her to. I would consider it if I go into next week...but again would need to look more into it then.
