How much does it cost to bank sperm for a month?

Title pretty much says it all. Probably one of those things that varies quite a bit but I just want to ballpark it before I go calling around. My DH would give a sample and we'd wash/freeze it for use when we're apart.
As always, TIA!

would you do an IUI or home insemination?

i am curious if one can do home insemination alone...

'cause my hubby's recent business trip made me wonder the very same thing!!!

Yes, if it's frozen you can. You just pick it up from the bank and there are midwives who come to your house and do IUIs with it. The freezing process does cut the # of sperm by about half I believe, but with a good count, it's totally worth it, that is unless it's $$$ beyond. You need to have it washed though, so hence the freezing, like a single woman w/ donor or lesbian couple.

i don't know the cost of freezing sperm for personal use. Check out the Sperm Bank of California and Rainbow Flag (the two SF area sperm banks) to find out.

But, you don't need a midwife to do the insemination--unless you are already moving toward IUI. My partner and I did our inseminations at home, and just placed the unwashed frozen sperm in the entrance of my cervix. Not an IUI, but an ICI.

My guess is that the cost will be substantial enough to dissuade you, but a few phone calls never hurt anything...
