Heat rash?

Does anyone else's baby have a heat rash? I am 99% sure that Caroline has a little heat rash on her upper chest/neck. We do not over dress her, in fact, we barely ever dress her. I think it is happening due to all the skin to skin I have with her at night and also swaddling. I use a thin cotton blanket but I think it still heats her up a little. The problem is that if I don't swaddle her or do skin to skin, she usually has a hard time falling asleep and then she cries .

The heat rash doesn't seem to bother her at all and I don't really feel overly concerned about it but I think it worries DH a bit. I feel like a little heat rash is better then having her separated from us and/or fussy. Is my attitude too nonchalant?

No advice on the rash itself, but we are huge fans of the muslin swaddles by Aden + Anais. I think they do a good job of keeping his temp regulated and I can wrap him up nice and snug in the middle of the night - which I can't do with his other blankets. They're not sized right, IMO. I was able to buy one individual blanket at a baby fair and then ordered more - they usually work out to be about $12-$15 each. I don't regret it.

Thanks for the tip! I think that is the same blanket a friend was telling me about yesterday. Is it like a gauzy type material?

we're dealing with heat rash here as well. poor little guy has it on the inside of his elbows, neck/chest some on his face, and a little around his hips.

we've got the air conditioning running most days and have been keeping it cool at night, dressing him lightly, etc. nothing has seemed to help. i think it's starting to go away, but the minute he gets the least bit sweaty it all pops up again. ugh. it's been hard with all the humidity here lately.

i'm just trying not to let it worry me for now. i don't think heat rash is supposed to hurt them at all, it's just blocked sweat glands that will eventually clear. i just hope it's sooner, rather than later! but, we still have a lot of summer left to go! when you're co sleeping and holding baby all day, it's really hard to keep them sweat free!

I don't think heat rash is anything to freak out about. My babies have had it, it goes away. If your babe is really miserable, then you will know it. But I would suggest using a little powder (there's some really nice ones available at health food stores) in the creases of their skin to absorb the moisture. That should help cut down on the rash, and ease any discomfort the baby might have.

Yep! They make a double thickness for winter too.

No advice really, just we've got it too! Avalon also has it on her neck/upper chest and inside her elbows as well. She's my only LO to get heat rash. Poor July babes!

Cadence has one all over her face and head. It doesn't bother her, but it makes me sad to see her pretty face all covered in red bumps. She's really warm to begin with and even though we try to keep her dressed very lightly, usually in onesies, she loves to cuddle and it gets worse when we cuddle with her.

NBs also get baby acne between 3 and 6 ish weeks, so it could be some of that. Kellyn has it on her cheeks right now. It is quite ugly but apparently normal. I don't remember it with DD but I am sure it was just sleep deprivation.
