Can ebay be profitable?

I can sew, I can knit, I can design my own things to sew and knit. And I can reconstruct clothing. Do you think there's much of a profit in that if I sell the stuff on ebay?

Not really. Etsy yes but not eBay.

From what I've been reading, Ebay is not a good place for you. Ebay is more for big discounted items, wholesale products, etc. Etsy is the way to go. Etsy get TONS of traffic and has loyal customer base for handmade products/

If you can reconstruct clothing items ebay can be good for you. Especially for dress up items.

Dress up is huge on ebay and people bid a lot of money on lots. You just have to find a niche.

You'd be able to go to thrift stores and make really unique items. The things that go especially well is renaissance style and non-disney...although disney sells very well also.

amen mama, my job now we sell games on ebay and amazon. we have been thinking about terminating the ebay branch recently because the fees have become outrageous, the feedback system is down right silly and ebay has made it almost impossible to make any money. Even a "midsize" seller like us can't make anything after the fees, BS, and overhead.

I would go with Etsy or even think about your own website!

Definitely the 'going with your own website' is a good idea if you do SEO (search engine optimization)

I think more and more people are looking away from ebay for certain things that would ordinarily be there just b/c the bidding gets so high....like people are auction addicts and just can't stop bidding.
