Would this work?

Hello diaper goddesses!

I'm going to have a baby in December, and am intent on cloth. While I've done my research, I have a question about embellishing/beefing up my prefolds.

I want to take a standard prefold, and after adding some color to them, sew fleece on the 'outside' of the diaper, then cover with some fun material.
My thought is that the fleece would keep it from leaking through quite so fast, so that sometimes we can go cover-free, but with a little extra protection.

Frankly, I want to see the 'cuteness' of the embellished diaper, and while I know this wouldn't work for overnight, I was hoping that this would buy me a little more time before it was soaked through.

Is this a hopeless, stupid idea, or something that might work, as long as I know that this won't be a perfect, leak-free solution?

I've used just plain prefolds with out a cover no problem in the summer. Not sure I would do it with a newborn only because they have that explosive poo LOL.

I think your time would be better spent sewing up some cute fleece covers in a variety of sizes. If the baby has no problem with fleece next to his/her skin, you won't need to purchase any covers, and the covers are what you see anyway.

Plus, you don't want to "ruin" your prefolds in case the baby has sensitive skin and can't tolerate the fleece (but you can sell the fleece covers to somebody else if this is the case.)
