How to remove Fire Retardant chemicals??

Britax uses toxic fire retardants on their covers. Does anyone know if vinegar is really successful in removing these??

I don't know about vinegar but I do know that airing things out lets them off-gas their chemicals. You can just set it outside for a day and let the wind clear it out. Is the cover removable? Then I would wash it a few times and let it air dry...
