Anyome saw The Colbert Report tonight? He was interviweing the congresswoman for Manhattan and they were talking about her trying to introduce legislature to prevent discrimination of pumping mothers in the workplace (while he was using an electric breastpump...but whatever). I did not get her name though. Hopefully this legislature will get the "Colbert Bump".

It was Carolyn Maloney. Here is her site:

I died laughing when I saw that. And DH looked at me while it was going on and said "you know this is going to be on your breastfeeding boards, right?" I was like "yep and if its not posted, I'm sure gonna post it."

Colbert Nation, yo!

Pooey...the video of the interview is on the offical site but it's saying (to me) that it's not available. I am guessing it's because I'm in Canada.... Maybe someone will post it on You Tube sometime.

I love Colbert!

It was part of his "Better Know a District" series with congresspeople. It's great that the thing about her work that he really focused upon, was her work on breastfeeding support.

And I thought it was hilarious that after 'pumping,' he pulled out a bottle and said, "And THAT's where gatorade comes from!"

Great interview. Wonderful that he gave her that national platform, and that she was able to take it and use it. I hope this gets more attention for her bill.

My baby, 5 mo, shares my love for Colbert. She usually pays the tv little attention, but I actually sit to watch Colbert and she is all smiles at him. We watched this and dd was laughing with me when Colbert was using the pump. I'm glad the issue got Colbert as a venue, the show is popular. Now if they'd just bring up vaccines directly. I might get a much needed, stress relieving laugh about the issue.

You could always write in. He'd probably have a field day with that topic.

LOL! Same with my LO. He loves Colbert and Stewart and that is about it. It must be their voices because he is so young, and it isn't like it is action packed.

Maybe he just appreciates very good political satire!

I don't usually watch, but DH left the TV on when he went to bed. I love his interviews, and when the woman said that women have actually been fired for pumping at work, that caught my attention.

Then when he broke out the breastpump I about died laughing. It's the same one I have, the Medela Single. I'd love to know what that fluid was, lmao!

What I loved about it is that it really showed how completly ridiculous the arguments are against pumping in the work place. He showed how completly disruptive it isn't!

Go Colbert!
