Ok my panties are in a bunch.... literally!! re: mama pads

I'm probably going to give tmi here but AF started this am and I am just starting to use cloth pads for myself.... I only purchased Luna pads after reading a ton of other ppls testimonies. Ok I like the idea and the feel here.... but OMG it really does put my panties in a bunch! the snaps are to far apart I think making it squish the crotch together therefore making the whole thing a very uncomfortable experience.

Is this a problem with other cloth mama pads too? I'm wondering if I should send the other ones back and try something else or what? or if cutting off the snaps sounds like a good idea? good thing I only washed one pad and liner to try first!

Any suggestions or other pads to try??

I have never tried luna pads so I've never actually tried ones with snaps but i like the kind with the velcro wings as they are completley adjustable. good luck, once you find the right pads you will never go back!!!

I made my own pads without any snaps or velcro. They stay fine without them for me anyway. And I love that I could make them as wide or as narrow as I wanted, same thing with length and thickness. Personally, I'd just cut those snaps right off. But I'm not going to say you should, don't want you mad if it's a complete fairure, lol.

I had that happen with one of my Lunapads. The snaps were sewn in the wrong place. But my other ones were fine and i love em.

Maybe you could try snapping one of your unwashed ones around your underwear (clean undies) and see if it does the same thing. If so, could you return your unwashed ones?

I would call Lunapads or write them an email.

I have one GladRag and have the same problem with it. Like Arduinna, I make my own that don't have snaps. They stay put on their own, but I thought that was because I use terry (I think it feels a bit dryer).

I've tried all kinds of cloth pads...

...and AF isn't even back yet! I wanted to build up a stash for post partum use. I totally know what you mean about the bunching. That happens to me with any of the pads w/ snaps. The ones I have found most comfy are Reddy's . No snaps, just a strip of multi-layered flannel that either sits in your panties (as long as your panties aren't satin or something) or you can get the kind w/ a belt and go panty-free. The latter is really comfy, but I'm having problems getting the belt to fit right, or the absorbant part of the pad is not fitting my anatomy, kwim? I need the absorbant part to be more in front...You could probably order one or two and then make your own. I would but no sewing machine

Anyway, those are my pick, but they're a bit pricey. They worked pretty well post partum, hopefully they'll be good when AF returns. They're narrower than most pads out there, so less bunching. I also like Lady Pads . They have snaps and bunch a bit, but i don't think they bunch as much as the other snaps ones I have, and they look cool. I would send the other luna pads back and order some others to try and find what you like. Every body is different!

I have tried all kinds of cloth pads too but not Lunapads (yet anyways)

Each type of pad makes a slightly different style, so if you need ones with adjustable (two or more) snaps I would go with either Country Cuttins http://www.countrycuttins.com (these are slimmer fit pad with an attached soaker) or LadyGlows, an AIO style http://www.hiddenpearlcreations.com . I like both of these a lot. I have never had a problem with my panties bunching.

Another thing you could try is pads that adjust to fit with aplix such as Mama Blossoms http://www.thebabytree.com

A couple of other slim fitting pads are Hag Rags (these have an insert) http://www.hagrag.bigstep.com and also Snap n Go's (these are an AIO) http://www.sugarplumbaby.com

If I got some pads that weren't going to work I would send back the unused ones and then try some other brands. Tiffany has some instock at Ladypads http://www.ladypads.com I have some of these too and they are very comfortable, a contoured style AIO.

Please don't give up on cloth because of one poor fitting pad. There are just too many options out there. I would never go back to disposable products.

I wanted to mention one more thing here--I often forget this because I have used cloth pads since 1993;

Cloth pads do take some getting used to if you have always used disposable pads. They definately feel differently and since they come in different shapes, fabrics, styles etc, you may need to try several different types before you find your favorites.

I just read at one of the cloth pad sites that you should convert slowly, trying them when you not having a heavy flow--maybe at the end of AF...or just try the pantiliners first to get used to the feel and then gradually start using them for af.

Good luck, you will get hooked once you find a good fitting one.

LOL I sure did it wrong then, I went to them for PP use!!!

I find with the Lunapads they fit some of my undies better than others, I need to pick the ones with the narrower crotch. Also my tighter fitting panties work better with them, although techically with the tighter fitting (and cotton) ones I probably don't actually need the snaps, because sometimes I use the "liners" (doublers) by themselves in these panties and they don't slide or anything.

good luck!!!
