Organized Nesting?

Would anyone be interested in a room-by-room nesting plan? I have all of this stuff floating in my mind that I *want* to do, but I'm totally overwhelmed by it. I was looking at doing the Cleaning Grand Plan or something like it. So would I have any company in this or am I just crazy?

wow, just reading that article has me exhausted! I would participate in something but maybe not something quite that detailed.....

Yes, I need a plan! And if you've been on the "How messy is your house?" thread, you know that my DH thinks we need one, too.

I've sort of tried the Holiday Grand Plan before, and I did a lot of "editing" of things that didn't really apply or that I wasn't into--but I still felt good doing it!

So in short, I'm saying I'll join you!

Yeah, I did the holiday grand plan last year and can still see the effects of it now, but there are other areas that are making me crazy, ya know? Certainly you don't have to do everything on the list (I'm not THAT CRAZY!), but I find that just focusing on a room per week or per couple of days really helps me a lot!

I just finished doing my whole house like this today I've never read that article before until now but that's how I did my house...room by room. I love to be organized...it relaxes me or centers me. I'm one of those who won't feel "ready" until my house is totally cleaned and organized. I did the same when I had DD. Although, after I had her I didn't dust for over 4 mo

I am feeling a need to go through and organize my whole house too. I have done a lot but I am stuck on the office where all the papers and I have some stuff I don't know how to get under control!

I loved the article, especially the part about storage. I couldn't have said it better myself!

I have severe nesting, lol. Right now we are tearing apart the master bedroom, throwing out half the stuff in it (we are clutter magnets and only have 750 sq feet!), steam cleaning, and then putting back the bed and crib. Then I'm doing the same thing to my daughter's room. Then I am buying a couple organizing bins and washing all her old newborn clothes and the new clothes for this baby and putting them away. I wake dh up as he's drifting off and I am tossing and turning like, "you realize we may have as few as FIVE WEEKS LEFT!!!" LOL.

So what should we start with? The front porch? I wanna get started!
Well, coincidentally, I did go out yesterday in a fit of cleaning and did my front porch. Now, it's a very small porch and all we have on it is the welcome mat BUT there are very large trees outside my front door and there is a constant battle against spider webs all over the porch, across the door, on the light fixtures, etc. So....I went out with the broom and knocked off all the spider webs and swept off the porch and the sidewalk leading to the door. Does that count?

Yeah, I think we should start with the front porch and do a turnover to the living room on Monday.

So, here's my list of what I want to do to the front porch:
Wash windows and siding
Wash front door
New porch light?
Weed front flower beds
Remove any and all toys from front yard (they don't belong there!)
Buy another "5" to fix the house number on the mailbox

I think that's gonna be it...it's too hot to do much else to the front porch. I'm going to work on my living room list this weekend and post in Monday morning .

I'm going to try to join in on this. I could really use some organization right now. so far I'm working on a drawer by drawer level, so this could be good to keep me in one room for a while instead of bouncing all over the house.

count me out on the front porch part though... I hosed it down a few weeks ago and there is no chance in hell that I'm tackling my overgrown jungle of a driveway/garden in this heat!

guess I'll join in on the living room train when that starts...

Ok, here's my plan for the front porch!
  • Sweep and remove cobwebs
  • Wash front door
  • Plant something in window box
  • Weed front flower bed--maybe even plant something new in there
  • Wash front windows and screens

Our front porch faces west, so it is scorching in the evening. I'll have to find a better time to work on it than right now.

My front porch/yard/carport list:
Wash siding
Wash front door
Empty out garden beds until I figure out what to do with them
Sweep out carport
Clean out garbage cans
Put in solar path lights
Hang windchimes/candles

OK, I think that's it... until I get out there and see a million other things to do!

Ok, I was going to do the front porch today, but dh is going to mow the lawn this eveing, so I think I will start with the living room.
I have a million things to do. We actually cleaned out the couch 2 days ago so that is off teh list, but sigh, maby the kids will help. lol

Ok, so, I'm completely off any sort of plan, but I did clean today. Here's what I did:
- Vacuumed all upstairs
- A couple loads of laundry
- Replaced lightbulbs in ceiling fixture
- Washed shower curtain and rug from master bathroom
- Swept out part of the garage, but got too hot to finish it
- Put a bunch of stuff in my car for Goodwill
- Put fresh sheets on our bed
- Put all the cardboard boxes out with the recycling stuff (we have a bunch from ordering things online)

Excuse the complete disregard for the "organized" part of this thread, lol. Tomorrow I need to buy our crib mattress and finish thank you notes from my showers!

I think I may only get the front door and the screen door washed. It's SO HOT...I just can't fathom weeding the flower beds (we need a sweating bullets smilie!).

After I wash my front doors, I think I'll move on to my living room list .

Oooh, I know what you mean about the heat. I'm thinking I might need to prune my list down a bit. It's over 100 here today and supposed to be the same tomorrow. Fun times!

I have been cleaning and organizing so much it's not even funny. I lay on the couch after my dh comes home from and I'm completely exhausted, achy, and feet swollen, I'm so achy it hurts to even take a step.

I'm getting my house repainted inside on Tuesday, I wanted a fresh clean feeling before baby arrives and also am getting new carpet put in.

I've been organizing my pantry, medicine cabinet, linen closets, kids drawers, closets and rooms, bathroom cabinets, our closet, cleaned the front porch entrance, bathroom tubs and showers all the rooms, behind the sofas, under tables etc. just so much in a short while. I tell my dh I wish the urge to clean wouldn't be so great because I feel so tired. My mother in law will be staying with us a few days after baby is born as my lil one is expected to need surgery after birth (of course I'm still praying it's not the case), so I just want to leave a neat organized house before going into labor. This way my mom and mom in law can just help out by keeping things running, cooking, laundry etc.

Okay, my front door is clean. Man, that's been bugging me. I'd still like to use some outdoor cleaner to hose off the siding sometime in the near future, but I just don't know if I'm up to it.

So here's my living room list (I'm stealing from my Holiday Grand Plan list last year):
-Clean and condition leather furniture (I think I need to buy more conditioner...I can't seem to find it)
-Declutter dresser...school stuff, crafts, games, movies, etc. If possible, find another place for school supplies
-Find new place for jewelry in center drawer (why is this checked off of last year's list when I DIDN'T DO IT?!)
-Oil Coffee table
-THOROUGHLY vacuum piano bench cushion. What's inside piano bench?
-Wash or at least air fluff to dust window valance. New curtains?
-Put away serger or take to be serviced and sewing supplies
-Dust everything the housekeepers don't: baseboards, window sills, blinds, under furniture, furniture legs.
-Touch up paint where necessary
-Declutter shoe basket
-RETURN CABLE EQUIPMENT! (e-mailed to arrange pickup)
-Mop

I think that's it . Last year there was a lot of decorating stuff on the list, which was fun (you know...hang pictures, refinish sewing desk, buy throw pillows, etc), but this year...nope...it's all CLEANING. GRRR!
