I love Burt's Bee's Garden Tomato soap mostly for the scent, but hate paying $8.00 for it. My thinking is that while my garden is in bloom and since I need to thin out my tomato plants I could try my hand at some soap making. Any helpful advice or hints would be really, truly appreciated!

If you've never made soap before I highly reccomend checking out several books from the library and reading them cover to cover. It's something that really takes some research to be sure you're being safe and creating something that's going to be safe to use.
Don't want to scare you, but it can be a dangerous process. Lye soaps can be the most wonderful thing, but they must be made the right way and with extreme care.
You can always see if anyone does workshops in your area. I'm actually starting one for some of my customers so they can make their own from grocery store items...sometimes you can get lucky and find someone to teach you.
