I'm thinking about buying Chagrin Valleys (or perhaps something else). What is your favorites? I have dry hair and it is long.

TIA!

I haven't personally used a shampoo bar, but I did get one from Chagrin Valley for my dogs! I LOVE how they feel afterwards. It rinses super easy, too. I imagine washing long hair is close to bathing dogs.

I used a number of different shampoo bars from Chagrin Valley, and they were mostly nice. But then I tried the Honey Oatmeal soap from Nasabb, and WOW! This lathered wonderfully and left my hair much more soft and shiny. It is not specifically for hair, but several mentions are made of folks using it this way, so I tried it. Here's a link if you are interested:

If you do order from Nasabb, be sure to request the free sample pack. They send you a bunch or good sized samples of numerous products. It is a wonderful free sample.

Thank you. I've heard about their oatmeal soap before and have been considering it. Have you tried their liquid shampoo or other products from Nasabb?

Sorry to interrupt, but what's the benefit of a shampoo bar over liquid shampoo?

you can read about it here http://chagrinvalleysoapandcraft.com/shampcompare.htm

But you can find good liquid shampoos. They will go bad pretty quickly though.

I have the Nasabb bar and it made my scalp break out over a period of time. I recommend Chagrin Valley or Prairieland Herbs. I have heard good things about Oyin here as well, although I haven't tried it.

I LOVE the Summer Sunshine shampoo bar from Chagrin Valley. I hated the honey beer and egg one. It left my hair a sticky mess.

I have some of the Burt's Bees baby shampoo bars, and use them on my kids. I like them because they're really really quick to wash out of their hair (which is the part of hair washing they like least, so good to be quick!).

I have never used shampoo bar on my own hair, I had never even seen any other shampoo bars before, so this thread is interesting!

I've used shampoo bars from CV for about a year and a half and I can't imagine using anything else. My favorite bars are: Summer Sunshine, Carrot Milk & Honey, Rosemary Mint, and Babassu & Marshmallow. Hope that helps.

I have not used their shampoos, just the soap and their unrefined Shea Butter. I LOVE both of them. I have washed my hair many times with the soap, and my hair and scalp both love it! The Chagrin Valley shampoo bars are okay but nothing special in my opinion. Nasabb is wonderful!

I washed my hair with shampoo a few days ago. For the first time in a year. I was so nice and left my hair very soft!

I still wan't to use bars but I think some of them leave a sticky film on my hair and i builds up. I use ACV but that doesn't help - it also dries my hair.

I'd love to find a bar that doesn't leave my hair feeling coated.

Try a citric acid rinse. Add 1/2 tsp to water, pour over head and don't rinse it out. I get a filmy residue too, it's from our hard water and vinegar doesn't help at all.
