Sept 07 Mama's - Almost one year old!

Starting the new thread. I'm up too late and just realized it's officially August so here ya go

Happy August!

I have been doing much better about taking care of myself. I don't feel like I am reaping all the benefits I might have been promised but I know I am doing something good. This morning when I got home from the gym I felt so sick to my stomach (humidity). I have our local World Breastfeeding Event today and I am not up to anything.

Do any of you bike with your babies? I have been planning on waiting for 1 year but with 11 months tomorrow I am geting antsy and the trailer is hooked to my bike as dh took Charlotte out...

Linus is ready for a shower so off we go. I'll let you ladies know if we raise any money at our luncheon.

hi. cant believe they are nearly 1. Evie is so mobile i cant keep up. im sure she is going to be walking by time she is 1. DD1 did. both boys walked around 15 months.

she is a booby monster she giggles when she sees my boob and is learning to lift my top up!

wow, august already!!

Cian's favorite game lately is "tiger". Lilah loves to pretend she is a tiger and crawls around growling. In the last coulple of weeks, Cian has gotten in on the fun He had been doing the 2-4 step thing forever, but this week he is up to 7 or so and if he falls, will stand back up and continue walking to wherever he was planning to go. So I guess he is now "officially" walking: :

Even though I've talked about her birthday coming up, the whole "almost a year" thing seemed so far off until I looked at the calendar and saw August 1st! Still not walking here, she cruises pretty well and seems to want to stand by herself, so she's really been working on that. She used to not want to crawl more than a couple feet away from me (which I couldn't really complain about) but in the last few days, she's discovered that she can venture farther away and has been a little crawling machine. We've been trying to expand her/our food horizons with meals that we can all share, which makes me feel good! She had broccoli this week and I was afraid it was going to bomb since she eats a ton of sweet yummy fruits, but she loved it!

Weight loss: Add me to the trying to lose weight list! Dh and I had "done" WW, to whoever asked, but we weren't officially doing it so I can't give you any info on cost or meetings. My mom went to a meeting to get the online registration code so she has access to the online tracking stuff, but dh and I were just using their point system. I really like it because I don't feel like I can't have my favorite things, but I ran into trouble with a general feeling of restriction which made me want to eat out all.the.time. I stopped counting points and have finally lost about 9 lbs in the past month or so, which leaves me with 18 lbs to get down to pre-pregnancy weight. I've been dancing a few times a week to get back in shape for my teaching exam in October, so that seems to be helping!

We were planning to, but we put them in the cart together to walk them around & the Lil ended up pinching Ru. Glad you're doing better!

Ruby giggles when she's about to nurse, too... it's funny because she has a very deep voice so it almost sounds lecherous.

We have a big day planned, I"m excited even tho I only got about 3 hours of sleep. Just got back from the farmer's market. We're going to make a harvest figure for the holiday. Then I'm going to the dr. at 1:15. Then back home t bake a bread for Lammas, then on to the drum circle that we started at the UU... then we're having people over afterwards... :

I'm going back to the dr today for depression. In the past week I've been doing so much better, due in part to the book The Four Agreements, it fell on me at just the right time. I am going to go, tho... and probably start some kind of meds to try & get back to "normal", whatever that is because I keep stalling because I have ups as well as downs & feel like I don't need anything when I'm up but feel utterly desperate when I'm down... I just want to feel a little more evened out.

Katie - thanks for linking the new one to the old one. Once again, I didn't realize it's a new month. I don't think Jamison would be able to teach Liam how to sleep on a lion. It was actually really strange and not like her at all to do that. She was in my lap and squirming, so I set her down, she draped herself across the lion and konked out. Naps are *always* on me, with a wooby in her mouth.

Speaking of August, I'd better get off my butt and get a plan for homeschooling.

Walking - Jamison can do like 6 steps now. But once she falls she stays down. She sure is proud of herself though!

Growling - Jamison has always been a growler. When she was like five months old she was growling at a lo who's like 3-4 weeks younger than her, and scaring him and making him cry . Last night she and daddy were "playing pirate" - saying "Aaarrr" to each other.

She's definitely feeling better. : She slept better last night, but still not good. It may have been some weird viral fever thing combined with teething, and now the fever's gone but the teething continues. Or maybe she's just going through the same bad sleeping thing that everyone else is going through.

More swimming lessons today. Oy.

I can't believe they are almost a year. Dahlia's birthday is the 6th so we are really close. I can't believe my last baby will be a year in 5 weeks.

She is cruising like a professional but still hasn't stood alone and she is too wobbly for walking yet. She is getting sturdier every day though. She could walk right around a year. She is really babbling a lot lately and says several words. She crawls around saying "wow, wow!" all day long.

Faerieworlds is this weekend. Kaija is going and I am considering taking the littles on sunday with her. I went last year and it was really amazing. Amy Brown is supposed to be there this year. : I also plan to go pick blueberries tomorrow. We used up and then froze all the cherries so I am allowed to go pick blueberries. (allowing myself that is) It's only supposed to be in the low 80's tomorrow so perfect for picking.

Jeanine ~ I love the sleeping pic of Jamison. So cute!

Beemama ~ I hope your doc appt is a success and you start feeling more yourself soon.

Cian ~ congrats on walking!!

We get some excited boob giggles here too. When she wants to nurse she gets really upset and starts slapping my chest and waving her hand (trying to do the nursing sign) and when I make the nursing sign she goes crazy and starts squealing.

I wish I was getting better at taking care of myself. I am feeling so weighed down and unmotivated. I really wish there was some magical elixir that would just get me up and moving. (preferrably without all the side effects of meth)

Off to go make children breakfast.

: here come the birthdays! oh my, it's all so exciting!

LWAB: ro's doing awesome. she's into everything and seems to be more intent on learning to talk than learning to walk which is fine with us. she sits her sidecarred crib in the mornings and babbles away while 'reading' her books. we can't keep up with her solid intake either! omg, this girl will eat anything. how many pieces of tape i've fished out of her mouth?! what is her thing with tape? she's napping twice a day for just over an hour each time and bed time is usually around eight (pushed back from seven).

BFing: i'm almost at my goal of one year! when i was pregnant, i tried really hard to make realistic goals as far as breastfeeding goes. six months was my first goal, and that went by really quickly. sure there have been obstacles, but 11 months of breastfeeding is pretty exciting to me. i get very touched out very easily, and i get frustrated with nursing. i'm just not one of those people that swoons when she nurses. every once in a while, it's just a task. our next goal is 15 months, and then ro and i will have a little mama-baby talk about how to proceed. (yes, i know most mdcers will go to two at least, but i'm trying really hard to be realistic in what will work for us. no flames please.)

Life: we've decided to move. denver just isn't really working for us mentally and emotionally. so, we're moving to the east coast. currently we're looking at new hampshire, pennsylvania, maryland, maine... anyone have anything to say on the subject? we want to be within a five hour drive of rhode island where my parents live.

Hi Mamas! I'm going to make a sincere effort to keep up with this thread this month.

Biking: Otto and I bike to daycare/work every day! He loves it and it is great excersise for me...I bike him to daycare, then to work, then back to daycare at lunch to nurse him, then back to work, then to daycare to pick him up, then home...whew! We are lucky in that our route doesn't have too many hills :

Walking: I think we're pretty close to walking...he pulls up to standing on everything and takes a few hesitant steps here and there...this is going to fast!!

Happy August! Its my birthday month (yes, I celebrate the whole month...why not???) So tonight is a BBQ with friends.

Happy August Mamas

My family has always been late in teething and Lucy is no exception. She only has 2 bottom teeth, but she is working really hard on the 2 top. WE are miserable. She still will not nurse at all during the day, but nurses a couple of times overnight and when she wakes in the morning. Still pumping during the day and hoping that I can get her back to nursing more.

Walking-no walking yet here, crusing a lot and stands alone. Stepped toward me for the first time this morning and then went boom.

WW-I am currently doing WW and I find it pretty easy....it is just a matter of whether I really "want" to stay on plan. To those that asked it is about $20 registration/and then $13 weekly or free registration and $39 for a monthly pass. I am doing the monthly pass...it keeps me going.

Mommajb - We plan to start biking with Liam around a year once we get our bikes from storage. I haven't actually ridden the thing since before I was pregnant

Booby monster - add Liam to the list of babies who giggles when he sees the boob. Today he was nursing and pulled away after a few seconds and sat there. I signed "milk" to him and he signed "more" back to me. It was awesome.

Yay, Cian, for walking!

Ishy - I know a few people who've had success with weight watchers but kind of made up their own plan with it. They followed the point system and were able to lose something like 60 pounds in three months. I'm actually considering it for Andrew because he really struggles with being addicted to junk food and managing his weight because of it. I guess it really isn't realistic to expect him to give it up entirely

beemama - Good luck with your doctor's appointment

Jeanine - I keep hoping for the day that I'm going to walk around the corner and find him fast asleep on the floor. I know it'll never happen though, I'll be asleep on the floor before he is. I'm glad you have a better night last night!

Wendi - Did you read the meth thread in TAO? Really scary stuff, our ped talked to us about it because she fosters mainly for children whose parents are addicted. I didn't even really know what it was until I moved here and it's EVERYWHERE.

Leanbh - I congratulate you for setting goals for yourself and working towards reaching them, that is definitely something to be commended. We're former East Coasters and have been everywhere you mentioned. Maine is gorgeous, especially if you're by the ocean. We have family there and love it. Maryland is also nice (we actually may end up here at some point) and there is quite a bit to do. Parts of Penn. can be really isolated and tends to be too conservative for my tastes. I've only been to NH briefly but it was nice.

Tell me more about your biking. Linus hates it. I put him in the trailer wearing a bright pink hand-me-down helmet with his 3 yo sister and I cannot imagine what the problem is. He (or she?) had pulled the helmet forward but he was fussing before that. The helmet is round, not aerodynamic so it should not be pushing his head forward. I went around the block a couple of times hoping he would start to enjoy it but that didn't happen. I have always been told not before 1 year but I don't want to believe it. (The girls never liked it before 18 months and that is so far away.) The reasons for waiting were helmet weight and the rough ride shaking the baby too much. I would love to be able to ditch the car a bit more often if I could work out all the kinks. TIA

I went to the dr & while she said she was "all about breastfeeding", she said that it really isn't necessary after a year & there's no way I can feel normal with the fluctuations in hormones that comes w/bfing. She gave me a script for zoloft and told me it does cross over.
She said she can give me something "better" if we wean.
Off to do some research on zoloft.
Looking for a better dr., too.

Can I join? My lil girl is turning one in Sept too, Korrina is cruising along. Only one step here & there though on her own. She has stood a few times for just a sec or two. She runs when she has my hands but I can't do too much of that, it kills my back! She has only just popped out ONE tooth! But teething hasn't been to bad so far (knock on wood). My first had a real hard time with teething.

Jbirdbrain - Happy birthday! It's my birthday 'month' too! The 12th is my official day. What's yours? Born in '73 here.

Beemama ~ I definitely think you should find a new doctor. Thomas Hale (Medications and Mothers' Milk) says that Zoloft is the best choice and least impact on breastfeeding FWIW.

beemama, I saw your post and came out to make sure somebody had already looked zoloft up in Dr Hale's for you. I am sorry you were not more supported. It is hard to reach out for help, even harder to repeat when the first time does not yield desired results.
