Ack! It's August Already, PDX Mamas! - Page 58

she has a water can (kleen kanteen) we fill everynight and she can drink that when she wants.
she also is allowed to have a snack if she asks, we also ask her if she wants something to nibble, its always no.
she just CANT sleep Jill, its like she is hardwired to not sleep.
she wont stay in bed either. and i cant strap her in bed. thats not an option.

That's a 27.9 deg difference. I'd say you should think about replacing that thing, but sounds like it comes in handy.
Na.. there is nothing wrong with the thermometer after the sun goes over the house. Right now it is 96.6 which is probably closer to correct.

Also on the NOAA's website their weather station for Sandy is in Brightwood. Up the mountain in the trees so that is not really accurate either. I would say Sandy is probably closer to Gresham's temp.

Plus, I've noticed those Internet widgets are not always timely, you know? Just looking at the Weather Underground page, I see that the official weather station in Milwaukie has not updated it's temp in over 2 hours, and claims it is 79 degrees. The Gresham weather station JUST update, and claims it is 90 degrees.
Besides not being updated, they are often not even in the location they are reporting for. I know at my old house..for my address they gave the temp for Ukiah which was not only an hour away, but we lived up a mountain. Not even close.

I like this thermometer because it is in the house with a little wire that goes out the window, it also gives you the inside temp as well as the outside temp. However since DH placed it on the east side right out the window it gets full morning sun and isn't accurate until after the sun goes over the house.

oh i know, kieran CAN"T nap some days, nothing doing... night really did get better for us... a lot at age 2, more so at age 3.5... and no idea why. it just clicked in his brain. nothing we did, nothing about how his day goes, he just started doing better by himself. i think it's somewhat related to activity and energy flow of the day... that can help ,but there's some part that's up to his body to decide. i often tell myself, it can't last forever, adults do learn how to sleep eventually, right? though i suppose you could try a sleep specialist, tho i i bet they would say 'try a routine!' cause she's a kid.

we have a routine.

Elizabeth was that way.. although she was older when it started and she generally stayed in bed at least.

Have you tried calm forte for kids? I think there is also a rescue remedy sleep aid. Neither worked for Elizabeth but maybe you will get lucky.

Well I told Breanna she has until Little Bear was over then I needed her to pick up the blocks in the family room. So I have decided I also have until Little Bear is over.

yea.. nothing worked for Elizabeth either. She seems to be doing better now.... I wonder if pre-puberty has anything to do with it though. I hope you don't have to wait that long!

ok, this will sound nuts. i swear, kieran has learned some activities that calm his brain.. like playing trains. something about the repetitive movements and sounds calms him...

Well Little Bear is over but now I wanna kick DH in the head. I guess I will go take it out on the dishes.

Yeah, I figured out that if I think about really simple things, I go right to sleep. But it's a matter of training the brain to do that.

Copyin' files. This is the first down time I've had at work in a long time. I'm so behind on emails and phone calls it's not even funny.

My house is a mess, I'm not looking forward to going home. The dishwasher makes the dishes smell like snails, so I haven't been using it, and I am behind. I have half a mind to try to stay in a hotel tonight. Or--just drive to the beach. It would cost a fortune, right? I just want to be somewhere cool.

Gods help me if I ever need to go back to the East Coast in summer ever again, because now I'm a real Oregonian, and I'd just die. Step off the plane and die.

I think I'm supposed to do something this weekend, only I can't remember what. There's nothing in my book, but I swear I'm supposed to do something. It's driving me mad.

the problem with Addy is she never enjoys simple things. her brain is just always going a mile a minute.
when she is sleeping she wakes talking cause her brain is still processing and just not shutting off.
she CANT shut her brain down.
i called and left a message with my ND hoping he has a solution. but she isnt back til the 18th.
i dont want to do melatonin. because of the brain issues.
maybe valerian root tincture (eww feet juice!), something like that.
we will see what she says.
maybe 5htp.

maybe OT will help.
i have called everyone i need to call, just waiting for calls back to get things moving forward.

Hey Mama's! Long time no chatty
Lanny and I are flying out for a funeral on Tues and I was wondering if anyone had a either a Britax backpack strap thing or a bucket carseat I could borrow. I am totally overwhelmed at the idea of carrying the seat, Lanny, and luggage onto a no checked luggage flight. PM me pretty please. xo

I have some valerian powder if you want it. My ND gave it to me when I couldn't sleep. I only used it once.

I'm having a really bad day. I'm not really going to get into it here, I vent too much as it is.. but lets just say that having a husband who does NOT show outward emotion (other than anger), is not a good thing when my brain has finally given me the little push that says it's ok to just sit and bawl my eyes out.
