I use bragg's. Love the ACV, but have stopped using the liquid aminos because they were making me feel WEIRD.

Okay, that totally made me laugh. I have been in traffic like that in other parts of the world. Totally crazy, makes NYC seem calm.

I get the Spectrum Naturals because it is a more local product.

I know!

What's everyone doing for the long weekend?

We are sticking around.

Wow, foggy this morning where I am... definitely a hint of fall in the air. I'm not sick of my summer clothes yet but I'm STILL sick of my spring/fall clothes

We're going to go to the fair on Sunday, and will do some household chores as well as prepare for our camping trip next weekend. These trips really make me appreciate New Season's delivery; I've been having them deliver right after we return from our trips so that the fridge is stocked with fresh food.

Savannah, I'm so happy for your new writing gig! You have a real gift. And glad to hear your ankle continues to improve.

I just finished listening to a recording of the speech. It was nice, but I guess I'm incredibly disenchanted at this point. The reality of not having a choice continues to bother me, and I feel particularly pigeon-holed this election because I'm just so very desperate to get out of the republican doldrums. I'm glad that he's invigorating so many people, and I sure hope he wins, but it was just another democrat speech for me. I really hope that this very historic election creates a domino effect, and that future elections become exponentially more diverse, perhaps even resulting in some party diversity.

I kind of figured McCain would pick a woman. *sigh* I hope all those Hillary supports were sufficiently swayed this week, and see Palin for a staunch Republican and not just a woman.

I agree, in my heart I am happy that the majority is waking up to the fact that we *Are* a very diverse nation. I feel Obama represents some of this, for me, although I wish he were also a *Woman*. I think it is a step in the right direction, we just have to keep it up. I voted for Nader last election, I really love Winona LaDuke.
hmm...maybe i should sashay over to the politics area

I think most women who were really for Hilary won't be swayed by any old woman choice... because women are smart, and make choices based on things bigger than boobs and vaginas.

tomorrow is moving day. eek!

Thanks Savannah. :

Sigh. We're cursing the day when woman vice president was selected. Blah.

I think the selection is not likely to turn any votes. They're going to have to make her out to be pretty hard core to mitigate the "soft" image that comes with her having a vagina. McCain is coming under all kinds of fire for being too moderate, and is on a rampage to regain his image as a Republican. So far all the write-ups I've seen about Palin have highlighted just how extreme conservative she is. Plus, Clinton all but said that any of her supporters who voted for McCain were idiots.

you could "precook" - but just partially. then finish them in teh morning to make them crunchy...

you could even microwave them if you do that sort of thing - it woudl make the cooking faster in the AM and stop them from turning brown overnight. or you could just let them turn brown overnight - it won't change the flavor....

About brown being ok: Really?? Have you tried it? That would certainly be the easiest thing to do, I think.

well, i can't say for sure if i've tried it but i FEEL like i have.

they turn brown from oxidizing on the surface, that's all. apples too.

do you feel that putting them in water changes the flavor?

still, i am prett darn sure you can cook them with the oxidation and its not a big deal - no problem health wise, and i can't imagine flavor wise, once browned/crispy.

Well, the wateriness of the potatoes already posses a challenge for crunchiness, so it seems like soaking them in the water would exacerbate the problem. Brown potatoes... hm. So hard to ignore that little voice that says: EW! Brown potatoes! But then, I have a hard time just cutting off the mold on cheese, or eating around the brown spots on avocados.
