BFing Teachers & needing time to pump

I know someone that will have a 4-5month old when school starts and she will only be able to pump for about 10 minutes each day in between taking her students to lunch and picking them back up again. Sounds like she isn't sure of any other options for her so trying gather some info for her to make this work! I asked if there is someone, like a teacher's aid, that might be able to watch her class a couple of other times, but she made it sound like there is not.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? We are in FL and there is not a pumping at work protection law.

Thanks!

what are her total hours on the job? i'm thinking if she had to be there at 8, but the kids aren't there until 8:30, she could pump then, and then 10 minutes on her lunch break, and then immediately upon dismissal? that might be three sessions in a seven hour period.

if there is no give in her schedule - why no prep period? - she's going to need a double electric pump, and i would recommend the medela wipes and microwave steam bags to clean/sanitize pump parts afterward - v. quick.

eta: i just noticed this was in lactivism, rather than another bf forum. i've found most schools to be fairly flexible with pumping. has she explained her situation to her principal?

teachers I know usually pump like 5minutes before the class arrives in the morning, or lunch or prep perios, and then immeadiately when the kids leave for the day. If she is allowed to have a mini fridge in the classroom, that would be super easy because she could put the bottles+pump thingies straight in the fridge and then just pull them out and pump into them again with no cleaning of parts.

I found that it took too much time to pump in the morning at school and ended up pumping just at lunch and then leaving right after school to pick up my dd. Pumping at school does take more than 5 min. I averaged 20min. from set-up to clean-up each day. I learned how to balance my food on my lap while I sat in the closet and pumped! Kudos for her to try and do it. I pumped for a year and I know that I have encouraged other young teachers to do it as well. It is not easy at all but very much worth it!

She can check here for the laws in her state regarding breastfeeding and working.

You'll probably have better luck at the working and student moms forum. Lots of BTDT there.
