Hi Mamas,
I hope you don't mind me stopping by after a long absence to start your August thread and let you know about Tacoma's World Breastfeeding Week Celebration, next Thursday. I'll be stuck at the market, but I encourage everybody to go. (Stop by the market and say hi afterward if you like, it's kids day!)
Hillary Ryan of Wai Baby just sent me this press release:
Tacoma Celebrates World Breastfeeding Week
Mass Nurse-Out In the Park Scheduled
Tacoma, WA- Breastfeeding babies, their families and the community that supports them will gather on Thursday, August 7 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Wright Park to celebrate World Breastfeeding Week, August 1-7. The celebration will feature a mass nurse out at 11 am to set the record for the largest number of simultaneous breastfeeding babies in Tacoma, as well as remarks by local lactation consultant- Debbie Knox, IBCLC. Gift bags will be provided to the first 50 families.
La Leche League’s 2008 World Breastfeeding Week celebrations recognize the importance of supporting mothers so they can achieve the gold standard of infant feeding: breastfeeding exclusively for six months and providing appropriate complementary foods with continued breastfeeding for up to two years or beyond.
La Leche League advocates creating optimal conditions for mothers in several critical areas of support, including family and social networks, healthcare, workplace and employment, government and legislation, and crisis or emergency response.
Tacoma’s celebration is co-produced by two locally-owned, mom-run stores: Wai Baby (owned by Hillary Ryan) and Best Loved Baby (owned by Sarah Simmons, Bronwyn Judd and Ida Simmons). Representatives from many other local organizations will be present including The Birthing Inn, Tacoma Labor Companions, North Tacoma La Leche League, Bates Technical College and more.

He was already trained on most of the things they were doing at AT anyway because of his job at Ft. Lewis.

: I'm in the Puyallup area, but don't mind driving 20-30 mins to meet at a park, or some other location.
